Just to get away from gulls and pigeons. 🙄

I`m getting plagued by slugs squeezing under my back door. I bought a copper tape from Amazon, added salt to the channel under the door and push a mat under the door each night and still the slimy pests find their way in. They even come in during dry weather having to cross a slabbed patio in the back garden.

What`s the attraction in my kitchen? 🤔

They’re attracted to high moisture content GG:

Fix water leaks, wipe up standing water, and use a dehumidifier in damp rooms.
Clean up food crumbs and spills right away.
Do not leave pet food out overnight.
Check dark, hidden zones like under kitchen cabinets or behind appliances.

But please don’t kill them. They can take the salt content out to the garden and kill your plant roots thus destroying the ecosystem. Best to pick them up (after you’ve stopped the attraction) and chuck them as far away from the door as possible.

lol - I used to scoop them up with the dug’s ball thrower, and fire them three or four gardens away…
Was getting big bright orange fekkers coming up through the decking.

Thanks for the tips, Buffy. Sadly, none of them apply to our kitchen. And they actually travel some distance across at least five 4x3 slabs to get to the back door and then they have to negotiate two steps. Most of these slugs are quite small. I also thought they would turn round and go back, rather than pass through the layer of salt in the threshold under the door.

Obviously not.

G G I also have a huge problem with slugs and snails in my garden .. they eat all my young plants .. They don`t like grit .. crushed egg shells .. coffee grinds .. anything that is rough for them to crawl over .. plus no chemical killer to harm other wildlife

I don`t want to put anyone off their dinner but Mrs Riva was making tagliatelle for us tonight, only to find a small slug in the pot with the boiling water and pasta. 🤢 Needless to say, the contents of the pot are now being devoured by 4 hungry gulls, who took about 10 seconds to spot an unexpected meal.

We`re mystified as to how the slug could possibly have been in the pot. The pasta was in a sealed pack, the water came from the cold tap and the pot from a cupboard. There was no sign of a slug when she filled the pot with water. I can`t see us solving this mystery in a hurry, but I`m going to war against these slimy pests now. No more Mr Nice Guy. 😠

It`s like a real life Agatha Christie! Could it have fallen from above?

I think I`ll stick with a Gastro rather than Gastropod dinner thanks.

Yer tea`s oot but the slug`s in!
