6. Author: hurricane_jimmy Date: Thu 21st Nov 2024. 23:17 At this point he`s just desperate to save his own position. But he has previous for this: Chechnya to establish himself as a hard man, Georgia when he was first accused of corruption and now Ukraine when things ramped up with Navalny. It seems the Chinese now are participating in hybrid warfare by cutting cables. The Penang 3 (if I remember the name correctly) is in Danish waters and hopefully the Danes will board and seize it. The EU and US are already putting tariffs in place on Chinese goods which will have quite a significant affect on what is already a quite ailing economy. Russia and China are both very much testing the water now to see what they can get away with. Reply |
7. Author: buffy Date: Fri 22nd Nov 2024. 12:27 I read this morning that Russia has been giving oil to North Korea which goes against sanctions. Tankers have been arriving under darkness but they were seen by satellite (by a non profit UK organisation). Giving oil to NK for their arming of Russian forces in Ukraine. ”Buffy’s Buns are the finest in Fife”, J. Spence 2019” Reply |
8. Author: DBP Date: Fri 22nd Nov 2024. 12:57 Sanctions are a funny one… We can hardly sanction a country, if they play in different circles and access different resources and invest different opportunities. Again we’re using our economic standpoint but with brics etc there’s a new geopolitical group in town, who are all buying and selling from each other - Russia, Iran, China, and some we are still mistaking as friends like India, etc There’s a podcast on bbc about North Korea and it’s been shown that their nuclear and missile program accelerated after we imposed sanctions to try and stop it - basically we forced them into the embrace of other sources/suppliers who had lots of additional things to offer then Reply |
9. Author: ipswichpar Date: Fri 22nd Nov 2024. 14:06 I think Ed Conway did an investigation a few months ago which showed Russia was avoiding sanction breaches by taking oil up to the edge of international waters where someone would turn up and take the oil to their own country. Reply |
