However, for a clever guy, he clearly lacks the common sense to consider his actions. As for Trump, I hope it works out for the US. I`m pleased to see someone take drastic action, but the concern is he`s not properly thought through his actions and they`ll come back to bite the US. Reply |

The way that one`s worded could be interpreted to say that there are, legally, no such thing as men in the US. All foetuses are female until about week six or seven, so fixing gender at the point of conception, as this order does, would appear to discount men from legally existing. You are now as she was then playing semantics, XX or XY is confirmed at conception, all you are doing is ignoring the fact the Y chromosome is always in the post and the male man always delivers. The language in the EO doesn`t define a female human by chromosomes, it defines a female (as you can see in the excerpt I posted above) human as a "person belonging, at conception, to the sex which produces the large reproductive cell" Probably because it was written by somebody with more interest in theology than biology. On it`s best day, on it`s absolute best day if you squint your eyes and put your fingers in your ears the best that theory can do to further your cause is to claim that sex is determined at conception although it plays no part in the development of the foetus for the first few weeks. It`s not like Schrodinger`s cat where after a few weeks the box is opened for a gender reveal party. There is nothing from conception onwards that alters the sex of the foetus. Yes my old lecturer would be a better arbiter than chat GTP. Wherever she is I hope she is well.  Reply |

If the text clearly defines sex one way then that definition is what the courts must use when interpreting the legal situation. As written. I`m not getting into personal or biological definitions here, or the philosophy of gender, I`m merely pointing out that the specific definition explicitly used in the EO that Trump signed without reading is pretty bad and has potential ramifications which I doubt he forsaw. I don`t believe anyone has ever seriously debated or questioned someone`s biology given you can`t, to my knowledge, change that the chromosomes you were born with (happy to be corrected). Gender is completely different. I am a man. I was born with XY chromosomes as a male human being. I can`t stop being a male human being. I was born a male human being, I will die a male human being. However, should I wish to, I could at any point in my life decide I wish to identify as a woman. That`s up to me, but if I were to need medical treatment, I would need to be treated as a human male because I have XY chromosomes and the medical treatment I receive is impacted by that. I suspect where Trump is coming from is the genuine concerns out there about men invading women`s spaces. I completely accept that concern, but declaring there are only two genders doesn`t resolve that unless the order also states that a male human will always be man and a female human will always be a woman. If it just says there are two then that doesn`t stop me saying I`m a woman like I suspect he`s trying to stop. It`s also a sledgehammer to crack a nut! Reply |

There is no need to change any wording, the ones we have are fine. More undocumented people in the states are going to get a path to citizenship under Trump, he has already said he wants to bring in a deal for the "dreamers", something previous presidents have failed to deliver.
