| 1. Author: LochgellyAlbert Date: Tue 6th May 2025. 11:11 Just before the Easter recess the SNP tried to get permission for a Scottish Visa system that would let foreigners work in Scotland. The permission unsurprisingly did not come to fruition, our Lords and masters denying it! I now read this morning that the care home system in England is going to collapse due to the denial of visas for foreigners to bring in their families. The 100,000 applications that they normally get is now reduced to 10,000 and you have to earn over £25K. Scotlands forward thinking not mentioned in the article!🤬 Reply |
| 2. Author: wee eck Date: Tue 6th May 2025. 11:38 The `British` media are pretty ignorant about Scottish politics. I think they just take the line that everything`s inferior up here. I`ve just read an article in the Guardian in which the Reform Party was compared with the SNP. `Farage will copy the Scottish National party: as an insurgent he will take no responsibility, blaming Westminster for any council failings`. Author: Wotsit Date: Tue 6th May 2025. 12:20 The double-whammy of a reduction in migration and the benefits cap is going to have a massive impact on the labour pool in this country over the next decade or so. There`s already a demographic crisis in many wealthier Asian countries such as Japan and S Korea, where folk are leaving it later and later to have kids, if they even bother at all. We are, like in many things, a few years behind these nations, but it is on the horizon and folk in their 50s should be worried about who`s going to pay the tax to fund their pensions when the time comes to retire.
