I understand you “vote for the party” element, but Burnham will be defacto PM without a mandate in reality. Is it fair that the next PM is selected by a party and not the people? Reply |

If they start doing completely different stuff then that changes to a yes. But as it stands, let them execute rather than everybody talking nonsense about how they would make things so much better. Author: DBP Date: Mon 22nd Jun 2026. 18:12 Yes For two reasons 1) I believe the Labour landslide was more about voting against the tories as opposed to pro labour manifesto mandate …and now people are waking up to what a Labour government actually means on the ground 2) regarding the manifesto, Labour have already done things they said they wouldn’t and chose to do other major things that wasn’t in the manifesto While we may not have a presidential election, people do vote considering who the party leader is, because they might be voting for local MP x, but they’re also potentially voting for prime minister y Reply |

Politics seems so fractured at the moment we could end up with a government with a workable majority that got even less of the national vote than Labour got. ![]() Reply |
