Won`t be popular but the NHS is ridiculously top heavy. So much dead weight. The Sandy Peggie nonsense showed just how poor management is at NHS Fife, for example. Reply

There would be a timetable of (at a guess) at least 10 years but more probably 20 for this to happen. It`s not the kind of thing that can be accomplished in a few months. You can bet that the British government and the Scottish government have already had that chat. And then there`s the relocation of Coulport.. That`s another minefield altogether. Hypothetically , yes , the subs at Faslane could all sail south to Devonport but the infrastructure is what takes the time to relocate. Who on earth would want a trident storage facility like Coulport near them ? It certainly won`t be built anywhere near Devonport that`s for sure lol. And if you think that any of the submarines in Rosyth are seaworthy enough to be towed or even piggy backed down to Devonport then I`m afraid you`re very very wrong. The Rosyth subs (all 7 of them ) will be recycled at Rosyth as moving them south simply isn`t possible now. On the upside , ... The 16 subs in Devonport will all be recycled in Devonport. (When they learn about the whole process from the Rosyth test case) currently Swiftsure. Swiftsure is reported to be coming along well and the initial date for completion was supposed to be the end of 2026 although that date was only the recycling end date. You can add another 2 years onto that before it`s really done and dusted. The good old USA and France have been successfully recycling their subs for ages now so I`d assume we have gained some knowledge from them. Hope so anyway. The Russians tried to recycle theirs with catastrophic results until they finally got their act together (international money helped). Prior to that , they had a nasty habit of "accidentally" scuttling/dumping them at sea. 😲 Admin Reply

Thats not to detract from a statistically significant pattern of childhood leukaemia/non-Hodgkin lymphoma in Rosyth being higher than average closer to the site than would have been expected but that is probably more to do with Rosyth being a nuclear-submarine refitting facility, and there being radiation exposures among dockyard workers. I asked AI but did not check for hallucinations as it seems reasonable; “Environmental monitoring has generally been reassuring. The latest 2024 RIFE report says direct radiation from the Rosyth site was less than 0.001 mSv for the year, with gamma radiation measurements around the site difficult to distinguish from natural background. “ So in summary ‘ones falling apart across the river’ would seem to be hyperbole. This is not a political point, I just have an aversion to shouting exaggerated nonsense which seems to be how every debate goes these days. Reply
