As far as I remember either there needs to be compelling evidence that the wrong decision was reached (i.e. a clear angle that shows he got the ball and didn`t get the man) OR the referee has to admit he got it wrong. Either case wins the appeal.

Interesting the debate, only seen it on tv.
Whether he was offside or not if it deemed violent it could still be a red.
Where offside comes in is if its stopping a goal scoring oppportunity.
Man before ball is a difficult one, clearly man before ball but continue through to stud him in the face is a red.
But normal fair and non violent foul where you get the ball first and then hit the man is a good challenge.
I think lol.

Appeal has been successful, presumably must`ve had some other footage they sent in as well as I didn`t think our highlights had a terrific angle

Dave Honeyman’s camera is on the roof of the main stand, so perhaps this gave the best view?

It couldn’t be downgraded to a yellow. It’s either a red card, or not a foul. There is absolutely no doubt that would have been classed as an obvious goal scoring opportunity, so any foul would be a red card.

Good news that he’s available for Saturday though.

Thanks for clarifying, par-91.

Imagine the reaction on here if we hadn`t won the match on Saturday!

I’d like to see the ref punished. He clearly guessed. He was not in a good position to make the call.

Just pleased the ref`s mistake didn`t end up costing us 3 pts and Bene`s available on Saturday.

Great news for Bene and for us. Couldn’t have worked out any better. The team can take great confidence from the fact that they beat Morton with ten men, Bene can breathe a sigh of relief that the lads didn`t fall apart when he went off and we went on to win the game. Gives us just a little bit of encouragement for the rest of the campaign.

Great news. Well done to the club for putting a successful case. Not sure that ref will be in action anywhere this weekend!

Really pleased about that.

The fact we won the game with 10 men says a lot about our players.

Bene I think is crucial against Falkirk, he is certainly slower (he was never quick anyway) but he usually does really well in the derbies.

He`s been our best captain for years.

As some have pointed out a yellow card is not possible in this situation.

The right outcome.

Honestly, his positioning was a bit suspect though. If it was offside it was lucky, rather than Bene trying to play him offside.
