Topic: Cook, Root cause of our problems!
1. Author:  ParfectXI

I’m gonna say it again! Cook is the main cause of our problems! Overpaid, divisive and out of his depth.

To quote (or try to) his interview, “We were given a list of candidates for the managers job identified by Park Bench and almost immediately decided we wanted Tidser”

From what I heard a fair few of the board were against that decision and wanted someone experienced but were overruled! Hughes was also another pushed through by Cook! The manager appointments during his reign in various positions have been shockingly bad - not what I would expect from a so-called Pars Man!

We’ve went backwards at a rate of knots, he has brought nothing to the club

I’d love to know who else was on that list.

What was said in the interview was that they created a shortlist of candidates and Tidser was the one that stood out for the owners, given his thoughts on the data driven approach. So, the owners rather than Cook seem to have driven the selection that way.

I know that doesn’t fit with your agenda but that’s what was actually said, quite different to what you claim Parfect

I blame Gary Montignani.

And he`s still not finished painting my shed.

I have no agenda except to get the best for Dunfermline and like quite a few I know believe that Cook is hindering not helping our cause! Just like I don’t believe unlike a big section of our fans that our manager MUST be an ex Pars player!

Well, why misrepresent what was said in the interview if not to put the decision solely down to David Cook?

Cook was to blame despite not being at the club when we were relegated, being the face but without much say under GmbH, and having said that the new owners leaned on John Colquhoun for a lot of their decisions. Gotcha. Let`s face it, there`s been an agenda against Cook since he came in. I`m not saying he`s been brilliant, but clearly there are folk who either didn`t like an outsider coming in, or no longer have their pals in positions of power, or who made their mind up as soon as he was appointed because he wasn`t someone they knew or knew of.

It definitely seems that way, kp. None of us really knows what his responsibilities are but that doesn`t stop some on here blaming him for everything that goes wrong.

While I question why we need all these expensive roles, I don`t think Cook is to blame. Things all went to pot when a couple of our directors thought Peter Grant was the answer. This season I would suggest McPake should have had a similar fate to Murray and been sacked at the start. Saying that, he seems to have had a budget of a about 20p.

Rubbish. He was appointed by GMBH and was there man, he was absolutely all over the John Hughes appointment, he was the only Director who interviewed him!! He also fully ran the club day to day for the Germans, to suggest otherwise shows you’ve been nowhere near the club except a matchday

He needs to go before Tidser, but he’s safe for now.
no way a club like ours should be paying so much in wages for non playing staff. It’s crazy, min.

And he’s the man who went for Tidser. Murray was interested but oor arrogant and aloof ceo decided he wasn’t even worth a courtesy call back.

A CEO in a private company carries out the policy of the owners. It`s very unlikely he can make big decisions without their approval.

It depends on the circumstances. Football is much more unpredictable than other industries. The change of ownership was an obvious opportunity if they didn`t think he was up to the job but the new owners decided to keep him on.

How would they judge him? They`ve just completed due diligence on the company, that`s how.

With respect that’s pish. He’s paid a small fortune to look after the club. 2 million down in 2 years. Solution ? Just add more bodies into marketing

He didn`t add someone. That was the owners.

Personally, I`d seek to get volunteers in key positions. We shouldn`t rely on them though nor expect people doing it full time to do so for free.
