Topic: Matty Todd will save our season.

Will everyone please stop panicking and getting your knickers in a twist in the middle of the week. Save all your pent up frustration for half an hour before kick-off.

There is zero point in what ifs and maybes on a blooming Tuesday or a Friday. You`re just stressing yourself at a pointless time.

Relax and live your normal lives until the time comes. Someone`s gonna have a coronary if they`re not careful.

Chill 😎 🧊 ❄️

Todd can’t even beat the first man from a set piece!

He’s long long long overdue us a good game though.

He`s just back after being out injured for 2 months and is having to get match fit without the chance to play any reserve games. Give the guy a break.

Wee eck come on. Doesn’t matter if you’ve been out for a month or 2, set piece delivery doesn’t depend on how fit you are, it’s about how much quality you have on dead balls.

Fatigue wise and getting around the pitch you can understand, but not set plays.

I wasn`t referring to his set plays but his overall contribution. Lennon obviously rates him to put him straight back into the team after injury.

His overall contribution has been terrible since his injury last season.

He isn’t the same player, hopefully his injury worries are behind him and he can kick on next season.

Some of us are hoping he can contribute this season.

He’s played 20 matches this season in the league and contributed very little. Obviously I do hope he can pop up with a goal or something but it’s a big ask and I just don’t agree that he will save our season, as this thread is all about.

Kane is the man we need to save our season.

If we don`t start scoring goals ASAP then
no one can save our season. We either start
scoring or it`s league one.

Lenny will be understanding the players better every day.... I`m hopeful each game will be a ( quick enough) change for the better.

Some comments from Matty Todd on COWS -

Converting chances has been a persistent issue for Dunfermline this season. Matty acknowledged the problem, including his own role in trying to solve it. “We’re getting into the areas now and I think before last weekend, it was something that was brought up into meetings that we’d had, that we needed to get the ball into the final third to create more opportunities for the attacking players. On my behalf, the set-pieces were quite poor and I need to work on them for myself and for the team. But at the end of the day, we probably created enough openings that we should have taken our chances.”

For the 23 year old personally, the Hamilton match represented another important step in his return from a hamstring injury that had sidelined him for nine matches. After playing an hour in Wednesday’s match against Livingston, he managed over 70 minutes against Hamilton.

“I felt all right to be honest,” he said of his physical condition. “I think Wednesday night obviously I put a lot into my hour and a bit on the pitch and then it was quite a quick turnaround for me. I had to recover quite well considering I’d not played in so long.”

Matty admitted he “maybe lacked that wee bit of quality” in terms of touches and final ball, but is focused on recovery ahead of the Queen’s Park fixture. All the squad is still adapting to life under new manager Neil Lennon, who took charge just weeks ago. Matty revealed that Lennon has asked him to “be a constant threat” by “running in behind and being that creative player.”

“I think Wednesday night, I did it well, played a part in the goal. And then Saturday, maybe struggled a wee bit to get on the ball and make things happen just with the way Hamilton set up,” he explained.

Matty is improving every game I’ve seen. You can’t underestimate how much match fitness is vital. Regardless of our fate this season, I’d definitely keep him on the books.

100% keep him. A lot of our players are much better than they have appeared to be. They`ve just been managed poorly.

I`d like to see Hampson given a chance. Or maybe he looks mince in training. He`s highly thought of though by previous coaches.

Scored the same amount of league goals as Lewis McCann in less than half the minutes played, it`s his drive forward that forces the save prior to the goal against Livingston and absolutely carries the most goal threat from midfield. Far better team with him in it.
