Glad he’s resigned. Need a grafter in the team.

Just to be clear I don’t mind Hammy has signed as will be a good squad player.

My original post was more due to the fact of all the hype made on social media, copying Partick Thistles tweet and then announcing a player has extended his contract with us.

I`m happy to see him re-sign. He was often MoM for me season before last when filling in at the back.

As others have said, NL will have him playing to his strengths in a new squad.

Hopefully, JCM to follow!

Folk work themselves up in expectation of a signing as they over-react to something on social media then blame somebody else if the reality doesn`t match their expectation. Why not have a wee laugh at yourself instead?

a decent squad player, are we going with a squad of 30 players?

the midfield needs a rebuild and re-signing Hamilton, more than likely Cooper and Wanyama also, who knows what might happen with Oakley-Boothe too, is not the answer.

That’s the worry. Can we control games with a midfield like that? I have my doubts.

Berry nailed it for me and would just add that we can`t rebuild a whole team for a few reasons. Hamilton is a committed player who is very versatile and can fill in at various positions for the new manager, as he builds his team. I hope he proves his doubters wrong.

After seeing the twitter posts last night I was fully expecting to wake up and see Brian Graham in a Pars shirt, so I do admit it was a bit underwhelming to just see a current player get a new deal.

I guess the social media team got a bit of a buzz going, and that`s their job.

I was thinking Hamilton would be away, he`s a good committed player but I thought he was maybe a bit limited. I trust Neil Lennon will know more than EVERYONE on here combined however, so if he thinks he is worth a deal then I trust his judgement. Hamilton is still young, has played a lot of football already and if anyone can get him to the next level the Lennon can.

We haven`t really seen any development in any of our players under any of the coaching teams since Stevie Crawford left, they have had years of sub-srandard coaches, unhappy training, understrength squads, playing when injured, so I`m looking forward to seeing some of them live up to their potential

Strange isn’t it? Perhaps everyone to a man was pleased that we secured Neil Lennon and now some are critical of him awarding Chris a new deal. How does that work?

Anyway, I’m pleased Chris has signed on again. Every good team needs balance.

Surely the fact that the club were `in dialogue` with certain players suggested they would be offered deals, so it would be up to them if they accepted? I don`t understand why some fans are surprised Hammy has re-signed.

Some fans think our new owners are going to throw millions at the club.
That’s not going to happen.
We have a two year plan to get us up and money is available but more for wages than transfer fees.
Wages is what attracts new players.

I`ve literally heard no one say the owners are going to throw millions at the club. Where are you hearing that?

I also haven`t heard anyone say they`re surprised Hammy has signed given he was in discussions, it`s more of a debate on whether we should have kept him in general.

Time will tell, but hopefully a good decision.

Ah, fair enough, AA. Your OP didn`t make that clear. It implied that you were less than chuffed that we`d extended Hammy`s contract.

I believe that the club made a statement on how important development would be. It is as much a part of the club philosophy as the recruitment of new players. Throwing money to buy success is not sustainable at any club. Good to see NL talking about CH passion for the club. Passion is a prerequisite for any player we bring in.

Hopefully used more in the middle of a back 3 rather than midfield. I`d start him ahead of Bene every time in that role

I think we forget how young Hamilton is as well, he’s only 23. Gives his all, always available so he’s a good player to have around the squad but not necessarily a starter.
I think Hamilton does alot of the difficult stuff really well then struggles with some of the basics but hopefully Lennon can work on it with him
I think some of the frustration and being underwhelmed isn’t at Hammy but is more with that daft social media update which clearly made fans think we were signing the best striker in the league.

Marketing team made a blunder. Copying the Thistle thing was a poor decision, there was never going to be an upside to that unless we had Brian Graham or another one of Thistles best players.

Although I don’t think Hammy is the best midfielder in the league, he’s certainly good enough to play his part in a promotion chasing team. He’s a Pars man and has showed up for the team when times have been tough - played out of position wearing the captains armband. He deserves credit all that. Definitely helped keep us in the league that injury season.

Just whenever the ball falls to him, he’s likely to sky it over the bar 😂
