Young defo has the potential, we just don’t move teams around enough to create any space for him and with a lack of support from midfield and the fact we never get in behind to get balls into the box it’s a hard shift for anyone up there.

Start doing that and the goals will come, he’s got the nouse and the instinct I reckon, just needs a goal.

The biggest disappointment for me was that nothing was sticking. Sometimes keeping the ball and gaining a bit of territory further up the field, while taking the pressure off the defence, can make a big difference. He struggled with his touch, which in turn made it impossible to get us up the park.

He needs time to adapt to this level, he jumped up from League 2 into a really poor championship side that created very little in the way of chances and he`s now just turned 21. We`re a work in progress and I think he`ll really benefit from playing next to an experienced striker like Kane or hopefully whoever we manage to bring in before the end of the window.

The key part about this season as a whole is allowing these young guys to develop, I`ve seen enough from the new recruits that we`ve brought in that in general it`s an improvement over what we had previously. There will be more ups than we`ve seen in recent seasons I have no doubts about that, but we`ll also see the occasional performance like Friday night where some of them struggle against experienced pros and a big crowd watching on.

And allowing them to develop means not playing them every week. Our squad is light in terms of experience and I think Lennon is being forced to play them? I’m sure he would like to take them out of the firing line, when appropriate?
Over to the board and the owners, but it’s now just a week of the window left. However it’s not something that’s not been known about for months.

The manager clearly felt that Connor wasn’t ready to lead the line, shown by his reticence to put him in the team during the League Cup matches. Unfortunately, with Chris Kane struggling, he has no real other option for the striker position. Andrew Tod has done extremely well as a ‘make-shift’ centre forward but that’s clearly not his position. Given that the majority of defenders in this league are experienced pros, they will use all their guile and less subtle abilities to unsettle any young striker so Connor has a very steep learning curve ahead. That’s why an experienced addition is so desperately needed, to fill the Kane role when he’s not available and assist Connor Young’s development into the top player I think he can be - given time!

Did we not have "experience " in the squad, but the opinion was to punt them?🤔

Lochgelly, I think it’s obvious we need experienced players who are good enough to play at this level. The guys we punted were not that, hence the performances and results we saw last season.

Most of them are now playing at levels below us. MOH got a contract at Morton but I reckon they will be scrapping relegation this season. Wotherspoon and chalmers have dropped to league one. McCann still unsigned. Wighton and Breen lost a fair bit of what they had with persistent injury problems, they dropped a level and Wighton has now retired. Craig Clay is about the only one I could have made a decent argument for keeping and we have brought in Charlie Gilmour to fill that role, who has proved to be an upgrade.

We had to move on from these guys if we wanted to progress.

I see where you’re coming from Cammy and his first touch was very poor on Friday which didn’t help and assume it’s a confidence issue too.

He’ll be better as a striker getting the ball facing the goal than the way we set up where our strikers only get near the ball 30 yards from goal and about 7 feet in the air!

"I think it’s obvious we need experienced players who are good enough to play at this level"

every side is looking for that but its slim pickings in terms of options and for us even with the supposed budget available, those players will get better offers than us.

Who? Joe Chalmers? David Wotherspoon?

I think the were punted mainly because they were playing p15h 🤷🏻‍♂️

There’s a big difference in receiving the ball with back to goal rather than running onto it.

Brewster - back to goal, control and pass, flick on to team mate running etc
Crawford - running onto it, good pace and decent finishing

We’re short of the Brewster type. Brian Graham would have been ideal but he fancied a shot at the premier league 🤷🏻‍♂️ i can’t think
Of too many others but I don’t think MacKenzie Kirk is that type of player either in fairness

In forward positions you have to create space, running through channels and turn defenders. We are too static sometimes. If you get into the final third for me its about the delivery into the box at the right height, the right pace and the right area. We surely don`t have to go wide all the time and then give it away. You may as well just get it into the box. At leasttgat way you are pressuring the defence and imposing yourself on the game. Too much emphasis on knocking the ball around in meaningless areas in football generally these days.

Yeah we`ll just dream on about finding these "experienced" players, maybe Messi will become available soon?
Then again he`s probably too old!🤔

Fridays game was a bit like pinball, with Raith dominating the first half in particular.

I rate Connor , he does have positional sense and some good instinct, even though he had a poor game, and still has a bit to go.

He`s still here for 2 seasons, so there`s a bit of work to go.

I for one am confident Connor will come good. With game time at this level and an experienced head alongside him, I`m sure we`ll see the goals start to come.

When your striker isn’t winning the first ball or making it stick, you have to win the 2nd ball - we didn’t win any of them, which ultimately stopped us from creating more chances in the final third.

Is that a counter argument? I never said anything about someone being too old, I said they were p15h. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Why would you want to retain players who got us relegated and or nearly relegated… some nearly relegated twice? Did you enjoy watching us struggle?
