How will the club be able to tell the difference?

Still won’t be able to know if they’re away fans, though.

A game, which is getting a lot of media attention might bring in new home fans, too.

Segregation of fans has been the norm in Scotland for years. The clubs must have developed ways of enforcing it or at least minimising breaches of it surely?

I remember being in Aberdeen with work a few years back, sitting in a hotel room and it turned out Aberdeen were playing were playing Rangers that night. My colleague (a Partick fan) and I decided to head along, as we normally did if we were in a town and a game was on. Unfortunately we didn’t get tickets for the game because Aberdeen had a policy against the Old Firm that if you weren’t on the database previously, they wouldn’t sell you a ticket for the home end. No matter how much I tried to prove I wasn’t a Rangers fan….it didn’t matter.

I think this might be pretty common practice…if not, then clubs can certainly do it if they wanted

"No matter how much I tried to prove I wasn`t a Rangers fan" certainly creates some strange images 🤔

It wouldn`t surprise me if tighter rules are put in place when the away end was full, but only at that point.

It’s not something new to have away fans on our end. Was very common in the 80’s when we had terracing and 18000 in the ground.
Thankfully they tended to stand together and generally behaved themselves.
Even Rangers fans.
It is a rare thing for the away end being sold out these days so it’s never been a problem for such a long time and if or when we get promoted, we would have to go down different routes to stop it.
I think the premier league doesn’t do online tickets to try combat this so you actually have to show up at the home ground to purchase physical tickets and give your address etc

"Are you seriously implying that home and away fans should just be mixed? Does this go for every game or just hibs? Shall we have the norrie topped up with Falkirk fans next time they sell out the away end? Segregation exists for a very obvious reason."

This situation only arises where the visiting club has an uncommonly large travelling support and demand for tickets significantly exceeds the normal away fans section(s) of the ground.

Falkirk don`t come into that category, Hibs do.

As I said not ideal.

So should every smaller premiership club just give up seats to bigger club when they come?

If anything its going the opposite way.

To answer your general question, it`s up to each club and will depend on the size of the stadium, the demand for tickets from their own fans and whether they need the money. Ideally they would want as many home fans as they can get - but if they can sell an extra 5000 tickets at perhaps £20 each for seats that would otherwise be empty, it`s hard to see why they wouldn`t do so.

Specifically for DAFC, I don`t get the impression we are giving up seats - there seem to be enough for all the Pars fans who want to attend.

To avoid confusion.. absolutely no problem with giving hibs as many tickets on that side of the ground as possible. But it’s madness to say the should be allowed in the norrie/NW. If hibs Block 7 group decide to buy in the NW, you would have carnage.

What are they going to do? Apply some rubbish stickers to the back of seats? Badly graffiti "Block 7" in the toilets? They wouldn`t be smart enough to keep their goba shut and would be chucked out almost immediately. I`d be more concerned about shoplifting and car thefts with that mob around.

Remember a Rangers game when there was bother at the town end, where huns had infiltrated the home support.

Was still a terracing with standing and my son must have been about 10yrs old, he turns 48 this year!

Must be easier to control due to seating and pre-purchase.

I remember the Dunfermline 2 - Rangers 0 Scottish Cup game at East End Park,1988 I think it was, cracking game, over 18,000 in there.
We were in the home terrace behind the goal, in the corner closest to the main stand and the place was full of Rangers fans, who were your standard scum of the earth OF fans, my dad was there with me, and was raging at their behaviour, especially when they were just pishing where they stood.

I remember he pushed down to the front to speak to a Policeman, to tell him to get them out of there, and the copper told him to calm down and f. Off, or he`d be the one getting arrested, which didn`t go down well

The recent rangers Man U game at old Trafford. I have been to old Trafford several times over the past few years and I purchased tickets for this for me and me son. A week later they cancelled my tickets. I got it sorted in the end after a phone call but there is ways to prevent it if you ask for certain information. Even if you have to have an account with each club. This is how I was allowed the tickets as they searched the rangers data base and could see I’ve not applied for any rangers tickets nor am I registered on their ticketing platform.

Was always the same that era - mind week before game seeing bus load of Celtic fans dropped off round corner at garvock hill and they all went to ticket office to get pile of tickets for home end as away end was sold out
