You really don’t worry when a long ball is played at them. Only fault today would’ve been getting Rudden off 10 mins earlier wouldn’t have gone a miss, he was done on his feet. Reply |

88. Author: Par excellence Date: Sat 24th Jan 2026. 19:31 The match stats show that we had 27% possession. Wasn’t able to be there today but does that sound about right for those that were at the game? Reply
89. Author: ipswichpar Date: Sat 24th Jan 2026. 19:44 Par excellence, Sat 24 Jan 19:31 I saw this earlier. St Johnstone normally have 60-69%. Weirdly their results appear to be worse recently when they have more possession. Their results appear to be better when they have 45-60% possession. Did we sit back and they struggled to break us down?!? Reply
90. Author: parsfan Date: Sat 24th Jan 2026. 19:51 Par excellence, Sat 24 Jan 19:31 They would have had more, certainly, but I was surprised it was that high. I was also surprised their shots on-target plus shots off-target didn`t add up to their total shots. So I don`t trust their stats. They got the score right at least. They must have counted a lot of ST holders who weren`t there to get to that "attendance" figure as well. With that stand behind the goal empty the ground can`t hold much more than 8,500. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The universe is ruled by chance and indifference ![]() Reply

92. Author: Socks Date: Sat 24th Jan 2026. 20:18 Possession stats are generally irrelevant, but there`s no way it was as low as 27%. Obviously I wasn`t recording it, but if I had to guess I`d put it at about 53-47 in their favour. The reported attendance of 8300 is also wrong. With one end closed and the away section behind the goals being 1/3 unused, that number is simply impossible. There looked to be less in all areas of the ground than last time we were there. Anyway, great win. Saints had slightly the better of a pretty even first half with neither side looking very threatening. They got behind us a couple of times, but Mehmet made comfortable saves when needed. Second half was good from us. Always nice to catch a team fannying about like that. The shot was probably one where you just try to hit it hard and get it on target rather than trying to be precise with placement, so it was nice that it flew into the top corner. After scoring we had a good spell, with the chances mainly falling to us. A few near things in that spell as we looked really well set up to match what they were doing and didn`t really look in danger. Defensively, we were very good as a team until near the end. Inevitably those last few minutes were a bit nervy as we came under heavy pressure. Hard to see what happened from the other end of the park but looked to be a header off the line then a good double save. Will be interesting to see those again. Like last week, the shape seemed quite rigid today without switches between 3 and 4 at the back. We`ve looked well organised both times so will be interesting to see if we change back next week against lower-ranked opposition. When did we last beat St Johnstone? There haven`t been many games in recent times but the only semi-recent win I remember is the 3-0 early in the season when they won the first division, 2008/09 I think, in my commentary debut on Pars TV. It seems incredible that it was 17 years. Reply

96. Author: wee eck Date: Sat 24th Jan 2026. 23:08 Re the `possession` stat, according to the BBC QOS only had 5% possession in their 5-1 win over East Fife so I think we can take our 27% figure with a pinch of salt. I checked it at half-time and it was around 50-50. Reply
