Those offside calls were nonsense from where I was sitting, the second one in particular, Mullen was clearly playing him on. What surprised me most was his positioning. That’s usually his biggest strength, but today it felt off all game and he kept getting caught between decisions, not quite tight enough, not quite covering the space either. I agree he wasn’t the worst out there, but that almost says more about the overall performance. For a guy we normally rely on for composure and reading the game, I thought it was a pretty poor showing. This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it. | 103. Author: par_33 Date: Sat 31st Jan 2026. 18:26 A bad day at the office that’s for sure. Was wildly optimistic going into today and I need to learn not to be. Airdrie were hungry and wanted it. Some of the performances were nothing short of appalling, big Nurudeen the only pass marks today. Morrison chasing scraps which is a shame cause you can see he wanted it but wasn’t getting the service. A.Tod needs a rest and benched, may do him some good. Also for christ sake, take Matty Todd off fckn corners. Beats me why Lennon never changed it earlier or even at HT. Regardless on his thoughts towards Chris Kane and his fitness scenario. If he’s within the match day squad, he’s ready to play, and if you are chasing a goal, Chris Kane is the man you want on that field, I don’t care what anyone else says. That is a fact. Reply |
| 104. Author: Berkey Date: Sat 31st Jan 2026. 18:45 Just to mention Lennon set us up wrong. Against airdrie who haven’t won in 5+ games and with us on a decent run we went with a midfield pairing of Hamilton and Gilmore! Really? That mcpake type tactics and we ended up with a mcpake like performance. Gilmore and a more attacking midfielder is so much better. Less sideways passing and more forward thinking intelligent passes forward. Wasn’t keen on how deep Fraser and Morrison were when they got the ball either, very easy for airdrie to sit in and watch us play it around in front of them before we inevitably gave it away. The performance today was like we had a hard game on Thursday! We have about 5-6 players who are good enough to take us forward and a few who are only good enough if they have a real good game. Squad still needs work. The post below replying to me is by one of .nets finest champions of mediocrity! Reply |
| 105. Author: adj27 Date: Sat 31st Jan 2026. 18:51 I completely agree about Kane - the boy from Bristol City looks no better than the loanees we had last season - in the short time he was on Kane looked way superior to him. Hamilton had a shocker in the first half and his red card was just ridiculous - if he’d fouled Mochrie with a crunching tackle he may well have got away with a yellow. For the first goal Mehmet initially started to blame his wall - I wonder if he was already annoyed at them and took his eye off the ball because it was such a weak shot. Whatever the reason it was a shocker - plenty of time to get back into it after that though. Attacking wise we probably carry more threat from set pieces than we have for years - if only we could put a cross into the middle of the box (Morrison fought well today but his crossing wasn’t much better than Tod’s). Probably unfair to criticise Carey so early but he was also very poor when he came on. Andy Reply |

| 107. Author: NMCmassive Date: Sat 31st Jan 2026. 19:17 Sacktheref69, Sat 31 Jan 18:22 Fair enough, obviously sitting in the Norrie it can be hard to see offside lines. Maybe if I had, I would have came to your conclusion. We just need to take it on the chin and move on. Hopefully we can turn the results into a positive in that the guys learn not to switch off. We’re a far better team than Airdrie but felt like the players thought they’d win by just showing up. COYP Reply |
| 108. Author: Buster_Brown Date: Sat 31st Jan 2026. 19:19 Well, that was a bit sh-t and I don’t think anyone saw that performance coming. Genuinely shocked that we dropped our levels to that display. Fair play to Airdrie, they sat in, played on the counter and we more aggressive off the ball than we were. They weren’t great, but they didn’t have to be because they battled and although Mehmet has gifted them a goal, they still had to dig and a battle and they did that, before a lovely finish to seal the same. Where do you start? I think the obvious place is Dennis. We know he is liable for the odd clanger, but the saves he made against Raith, Hibs and St.Johnstone, he deserves to be the number 1 at the moment. However chat of extended contracts, should be put to bed. We need better. At QOS, Ayr and today at Airdrie, I’ve really liked Harry Stone. I know he is on loan from Hearts but he’s the type of Goalkeeper we need (with what I have seen). Apart from that, Dennis didn’t do much wrong, but he already gave them the gift that cost us. Some of the supporters around me were going mad at some of the offside calls, they really need to get a grip. Quite often the linesman called it right, getting so hot under the collar and being wrong, is embarrassing. The Ref, baffling but he did get the Hamilton red right. It was the same as ours last week, yes, no consistency but he let himself down and left his team mates in the lurch, most of which were having an off game anyway. We saw the downside of Hamilton, Todd & Memhet today and the reason why I don’t think they should stay past their contracts. They do well, but they’re not consistent over the season for a team that’s looking for promotion. I love Todd and Hamilton but performances like today (from them) come as no surprise. For me, our biggest problem remains in the forward areas. We’re not clinical enough and….some of you will disagree…but for me Kane is still our best striker. Rudden tries and he does the dirty work, but often his hold up play is poor, his first touch is off, and he doesn’t get shots away. I’m not saying he is a poor player, not at all, but he’s not clinical and not as good as Kane with linking up. Tod needs re-earn his slot for me. Since the International call up, his levels have dropped off and today was the lowest. So weak and just not contributing. The effort is there but so often he weakly gave up play or just didn’t contribute. Morrison, as has been sad, tried his heart out but he lived off scraps and did what he could do and looked lively. I think he’s going to be a huge player for us and playing off a link man like Kane, would be the making of him (for us). Nobody saw today coming, which is frustrating, but it’s time for a wee…and it’s only a wee…rethink for Lennon. Amade looked lively when. He came on, Thomas put himself about without being brilliant and Carey did ok. I genuinely think they’ll start (along with Kearney) next week. That’ll be a good opportunity for them. Fingers crossed they take it. Loving You, Is In My DNA 🇾🇪 Reply |

| 110. Author: Berkey Date: Sat 31st Jan 2026. 19:29 Rigger it might have been the right team for away at the league leaders who you would expect to dominate most of the game but it wasn’t the right set up at home to team who sat in. | 111. Author: Raymie the Legend Date: Sat 31st Jan 2026. 19:30 We still have a problem up top. We don’t have an out and out scorer. ( I’ll repeat what I said a week ago ) We have scored 29 goals in 22 league games, which at first glance, doesn’t look terrible, but 9 goals came in two games. It’s then just a goal a game for the other 20. That’s not going to get us into the playoffs. ![]() It`s bloody tough being a legend Ron Atkinson - 1983 Post Edited (Sat 31 Jan 19:31) Reply |
| 112. Author: NMCmassive Date: Sat 31st Jan 2026. 19:31 I agree. I’ve said it elsewhere but Morrison looks like he can bring a lot to the table. It’s a shame that he was laden with Rudden who worked hard but showed little quality and A Tod who worked about as hard as the stewards who walk up and down every 10mins. COYP Reply |

| 119. Author: Jock Par36 Date: Sat 31st Jan 2026. 21:11 There was nothing positive today. The build up was slow, our movement was slow and our thinking was slow. Nobody got full marks today. It was so disappointing after doing so well against the Rovers Hibs and St Johnstone. Surely we can`t play so badly again this season, at least I hope not. Reply |
| 120. Author: Westies squint kicks Date: Sat 31st Jan 2026. 21:17 da_no_1, Sat 31 Jan 20:01 Granted. However the one change is Hamilton for Tash, a more defensive player. Would anyone argue we’re now fielding a more defensive team at home to a lower half side than we did away to the league leaders ? It all comes back to struggling at home, whilst the Hibs game was a fantastic effort and a great result they didn’t come and sit in like the majority of the teams do. Our best performances have without question been away from home when teams come on to you more and we evidently struggle to create to the same extent when at East End Park. 12 points ( only 3 wins) from 11 games at Home (7th in the home table, whilst 17 from 11 away, 3rd in the away table). The set up at home isn’t working. Reply |
