Neil Lennon not happy

He`s absolutely right to be annoyed at the players. That was turgid.

He also however has to take some of the blame as there are things we got wrong tactically at the start and we didn`t make changes quickly enough.

The corner situation really annoys me.How a full time player, cannot put a ball delivery over head height, infuriates me,so bloody ridiculous.

The fact Lennon sent out the exact same team for the second half was worrying.

Andy Tod looked like an amateur playing with pro’s yesterday, when he’s off it boy he’s so poor and rarely even showed for it, just an empty shirt so we had hardly any out balls but still came back out for the second half!

I get Carey might not have been 100% fit but should have got the second half, even if just to take matty off the corners.

Despite a young team we looked like we lacked pace again so our wingers never really got in behind and couldn’t deliver a pizza. Not that we ever had the bodies in the box. Morrison put a fair shift in, I just hope there’s more to his game as he didn’t look capable of going past anyone and final delivery was poor.

Kearney is rusty but just looks so weak defensively, he’s one along with mcloed your more hopefully for next season.

Poor performance. I wouldn`t say on the ball too much difference from the previous good wins, but we didn`t press with nearly the same intensity. A gift of a goal gave them confidence and the red card made it easy for them second half. It was a clear red, Mochrie was right through on goal and nobody had the pace to catch him. Hamilton had to bring him down much earlier. It came from a fairly aimless punt forward and a pretty pathetic jump in an aerial challenge from someone (Ngwenya possibly) - so not entirely Chris` fault. Mochrie was likely but not certain to score there. A player I always enjoy watching, glides past people for fun - in a better team he could do some serious damage. We badly lack players that can dribble and beat a man and open up space, only Morrison can do that and if he is off his game...

Few positives indeed. I thought Fraser and Morrison were too of our brighter players, at least moving and looking for the ball but didn`t produce any quality. I thought Matty Todd was better than a lot of others have said, albeit again without enough quality in his delivery. Kearney was far worse.

Rudden doesn`t have quite enough pace or a good enough touch. Andy Tod was poor again, apart from one great turn first half which nearly made a goal - he was lucky not to give away a penalty as well with a clear shirt pull. Hamilton didn`t play too well but did try to play and get forward, the shot off the bar was really unlucky. The game passed Gilmour by. Defence was ok, but I would have hoped to see more from JCM bringing the ball forward.

None of the subs did that much, thought Thomas was the most lively. Carey managed one good free-kick.

Certainly plenty for Lennon to think about.

We were poor by any standards. No penetration, never really troubled their keperr. We seem to turn up when the cameras are there but not producing good enough performances when they are not. Lack of movement up front, nobody in the box. Poor crosses, corners etc. Is down to lack of concentration. Cheap goals, cheap sending off. Should have just given Airdrie the points before the game. We thought Rudden, A Todd and M Todd should have been subbed at half time. Morrison put the effort in but nobody in tge box to get on tge end of anything.

I would argue that it`s more to do with how our opponents set up, rather than the presence of TV, although I`m sure that was a flippant suggestion, Indiapar. Airdrie got plenty men behind the ball, looking to nick a goal from a quick counterattack. We didn`t have the guile or creativity to open them up. A gift of a goal gave them something to hang onto and an excuse to waste as much time as the ref allowed - and that was a lot. The red card was the cherry on their cake. As another poster pointed out, we have a better away record because our opponents play a more open style at home. We beat Arbroath and Airdrie handsomely away but have now lost to both at EEP.

I`ve no desire to join the pile on Mehmet. There were posters wanting to extend his contract last week - now they want to run him out of town. 🙄 It can be a lonely life for a goalie. A forward misses an easy chance and it gets forgotten, especially if he scores from another. A goalie lets in a poor goal and even if he makes some good saves in the game, he`s vilified. I saw him last Monday and said I was delighted at how well he`d played since getting back into the team. He said last season had been very difficult for him. As the only keeper on the club`s books, he often had to train on his own and didn`t feel he was ever fully fit. That must have been a heavy psychological burden to take into games and must surely have affected his confidence.

For the goal GG it was such a poor shot that Mehmet got down too quickly. It was a poor goal to lose, but he anticipated a better shot at goal that didnt come. It was just a bit more than a pass back.

I take your point on how Airdrie set up but they were far more direct. I thought Morrison tried but we didnt create space in the box when his crosses came in. Kane is the type of box player you need when Morrison is on the Park. Morrison and Rudden dont look like a strike partnership to me at the moment.

Yeah, it is a shame for Mehmet. He has been great since coming in, but it was always a matter a time before that one yesterday. Rudden missing the ball for an easy chance was as bad as Mehmet`s mistake but not much was said.

I thought Mehmet would make a good backup/coach for a young goalkeeper, but if we want someone to compete for the No 1 shirt and not just be there to cover injuries and suspensions then we need to be looking for a new 1.

Carey had one corner in the second half that he put over everyone and out. Just as bad as Todd`s.

I was pretty impressed by Airdrie yesterday too, they put out a very mobile midfield and forward line which we really struggled to get to grips with. Their decision making and execution in the final third was generally far better than ours. Even for the red card there was a really nice flick in the build up and they were agile and direct in cutting through our defence.

Agree about the striker misses yesterday being just as costly as Mehmet`s mistake. Rudden missed in my eyes two very good chances and we had a few other crosses in decent positions nobody managed to convert. Too many players played below the levels expected and that will get you beat in the championship.

I think there needs to be a shift in thinking from the management team for certain types of games. Yesterday`s setup seems ideal in games where you are expecting less of the ball, as was the case for playing Hibs and St Johnstone.

Playing Hamilton and Gilmour deep when you already have 3 at the back seemed an odd choice for this game, even with the red card I didn`t think it made much of a difference due to how ineffective it was up to that point.

Rudden and Morrison will work their socks off and press relentlessly, are they a strike partnership you want to have against a team you`re expecting to beat at home? I`m not so sure.

We made it easy for Airdrie by gifting them a goal and having a man sent off just as we seemed to be building some momentum but I agree that NL has to show more imagination in his team selection. All the big clubs practise squad rotation and we have a big enough squad to be able to do so. It doesn`t make sense that a team capable of winning away at Kirkcaldy at Perth is necessarily the right selection to beat Airdrie at home.

We still lack creativity in midfield. All our attacking moves seem to be directed down the flanks with crosses into the box which often don`t have sufficient targets to benefit from them. Caceres seems to me to be the player most likely to unlock a tight defence but he has a problem with the physicality of the Championship. Maybe Carey can fill that role.

We tend to write off some players after a poor game , ignoring their good performances in previous games, but it`s up to NL to ring the changes to get contributions from the full squad and keep everyone on their toes. If Kane is fit he should be starting as he is the player best equipped to lead the attack.

Apparently Caceres has struggled to settle here, and with his partner expecting a child shortly, he is keen on a move.

The issue we have is that the players need to show more. It’s all well and good playing well and picking up good results, but yesterday was crying out for someone to show real character and lift the team, and nobody did.

Next week is massive, and these players need to prove that this wasn’t just another short purple patch of good results.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Just watched the highlights there. Does Mehmet have any defence when the ball has gone through the wall (and bounced right in front of him)?

It did appear at first as if he was going to blame the wall

He goes down to early and gets his positioning all wrong.

Having been in that position myself, all be it not at professional level, it’s a tricky one because he was going left before realising. When he does, it’s too late to judge and he’s simply made a mess of it and can’t get his positioning right.

Although the wall is not ideal, he’ll know he should have done better, and will frustrated at himself I’m sure. If anything he is guilty of reacting too quickly (when the wall splits).

it was the pitch he was starting to have a go about, in the warm up there were a few dodgy bounces in the 6 yard box and also he struggled with his footing a couple of times, has to do better though and the same goes for the wall.

All of the above, but on the score, Airdrie missed a sitter at 1-0 first half, as far as I could see their keeper could have thrown his hat on most of our efforts. I think overall Airdrie could have made it worse. Especially the way their left wing passed through our defence!
Was sitting with an Airdrie fan who couldn’t believe how bad we were. He also said that they hadn’t got many breaks, so by the law of averages they were bound to get something eventually. ( Wish it hadn’t been against us)

With hindsight the team selection was wrong. It would have been a brave man to make major changes after three good results, but then isn’t that what top managers do?

As has been pointed out we have better away form. We are good at defending against teams that come at us, and finishing the odd chance. less good at dominating and creating.

Barney is a big loss – he looked a bit awkward, but he had that priceless ability to nick a goal – good anticipation and quick reactions. Rudden isn’t the same sort of player and whilst the quality of balls into the box was poor, we could probably have made more of them – I don’t think Rudden’s miss was that bad though– sometimes they go in, sometime not. Our finishing in general was sub-standard – too many straight at the keeper, in contrast to McGrattan’s effort. Also, we seemed to be more in favour of maintaining the ball by recycling the ball via the centre-backs than putting the ball into the middle. Maybe that’s the right idea, the latter tactic wasn’t very successful.

I noticed that at the free-kick someone was standing over the ball then moved off to the right – no-one peeled the wall to go with him. I expected the ball to be played short, and wondered if it was at that moment that Mehmet took his eye off the ball. Also, could the wall have done better? Still a big blunder by Deniz though.

The red card was the killer. At the time I thought it was less of a red than the previous week but having seen the highlights I’ve changed my mind. Hammy has a habit of committing deliberate fouls, reckoning he can get away with one, but it’s a bad habit that has caught up with him. He needs to cut it out. Gilmour’s booking was stupid as well – so he’d been hauled down – let the ref deal with it and get on with play. Getting carded hampered his ability to stick a foot in after that.

Morrison looked bright again, but it’s difficult to do much when you are stuck out on the wing and a man down. Tod has touches of skill that others don’t have, but sometimes he choses a trick rather than the safe option. Hopefully he’ll learn to make better choices. Todd’s delivery was poor, but then we saw Carey come on, he of the wand of a left foot, beat the first man with his corner, only to airmail the box altogether.

I don’t think the result, deeply disappointing though it was, changes much. We’re not going to win the division (we’ve lost more games than we’ve won, so I doubt any bigger team will be beating a path to NLs door). I think finishing fourth is over-rated. Yes, it gives you an outside chance of promotion, yes it wins you more prize-money, but that doesn’t seem to be an issue. If and when we are promoted, I’d rather it was because we were ready.

The fact Mehmet has made a career in full time football sums up the way the club has been run prior to park bench.

Hammy had a shocker. If he can’t win a tackle or second ball what can he do?

Overall thought we played okay but predictably lacked intensity against a lower placed team at home. Hopefully Lennon can spot the ones that need dumped in the summer after that.

Referee and nw side linesman should be sent back to the Sundays.

Park Bench have recruited and signed 2 new goalkeepers, neither deemed good enough to replace our 2nd choice keeper from previous seasons.

Quite why you think it’s do with anything prior to them is wild. The question marks on them, nobody else.

Terrell was dropped for disciplinary reasons, not because he is poorer than Mehmet. Mehmet has played well since he came back in, thus was holding his place. He may have blown it after yesterday though because that was a terrible goal to let in.
