That is a penalty, all day long. I was at the game, and was level with it in main stand.

Im in two minds. The pundits all said outside the box, so a foul.
Im listening but it was very close to the Denmark penalty

It was a stonewall red card irrespective of whether it was inside or outside the box

No, it wasn’t a red card.

The officials were awful in both directions last night but we suffered more.

A definitely penalty and booking for me last night. And if it wasn`t a penalty I can`t understand why it wasn`t a booking for simulation.

Ashcroft did enough for a red last night from my view cumulatively (appreciate it might not have happened if the correct early booking was given).

Ashcroft will do anything if he continues to get away with it, which he did. Awful refereeing.

If the foul continues into the box it`s a pen

Not true. They said it was a foul, but whether it continues into the box was the question.

Whatever the `right` decision was giving a goal kick was absolutely the worst decision.

A clear, obvious, foul robbed us of a great attacking situation, and the result is thistle getting possession.

If Thistle go up they better ditch Ashcroft. VAR will shaft him and his antics every week.

You would have thought for an important match like that the SFA would avoid appointing a referee who had `previous` with one of the clubs but I suppose that might imply that the officials weren`t up to standard so wouldn`t happen. Are our refs really as bad as we claim or is that just fans` bias?

I`m keen to see a replay of the Todd incident but so far the only highlights on the BBC Sport website are the goals and they miss the glorious crossfield pass which started the move for our goal.

It`s without doubt a foul at the very least and the legs tangle in the box as well. Ashcroft could`ve very easily been off the park in that game if we had a competent referee.

Nicolson has been abysmal every time I`ve seen him, for whatever reason he`s being labelled as an up and coming referee by the SFA. He`s utterly lost in these games and completely inconsistent as well.

as stated above he had "previous" with both where he didnt send off a st johnstone player for a forearm smash on a thistle player where he was subsequently banned by discuiplinary panel. His last match with us there was no "drama" in the 2-0 win at Ayr and awarded us a pen.

Which is actually quite funny because I think the one last night is way more of a pen than the one at Ayr

The MattyTodd incident was at least a free kick if not a penalty. We had scored from a similar move earlier so an obvious foul. Ashcroft should have been booked which would have changed his game approach.

The SFA don’t appoint officials to SPFL fixtures.

A slippery slope, wee eck. While I agree that Nicholson was worse than useless, clubs cannot ever be allowed to influence the choice of referee for their games.

Celtic would never want John Beaton
Rangers, Willie Colm, etc.

`The SFA don’t appoint officials to SPFL fixtures.`

I would still make the same pointb regardless of who appoints them.

I wasn`t suggesting clubs should influence the choice of referee. I`d actually be interested to know the factors that do influence the choice of referee. Are they drawn out of a hat?

I think a lucky bag more than a hat would be appropriate.

I believe that if the foul continues into the box it’s deemed a penalty, he clearly had his across his shoulder to impede progress.
