Bene offered a new deal but Sam Young released, to me, is staggering.

Maybe it`ll be a coach/emergency backup role?

A little surprised about Chris Hamilton, but not so much the others.

I personally think Bene has another year in him and his experience will be useful for the season ahead.

Yeah really surprised bene being offered another year even if it is as a bit part player, when did he last play? Guessing he’s good in the dressing room.

No surprises in this to be honest. Otoo and KRH just totally fell off a cliff, will be interesting to see where they end up.

Counted 13 players in the remaining who are regulars in the match day squad so doesn’t feel like a massive overhaul, hopefully its quality rather than quantity.

I’d imagine Bene is a good guy to have about the place with priceless experience. You can’t buy that. Lennon knows what he offers.

Bene is an excellent leader and I imagine he comes across well in the dressing room. Not a bad player to have in an emergency.

I think Alistair Davidson has the makings of a good central defender. A bit raw, played against Arbroath and looked okay. Maybe he will get more of an opportunity this season.

A shame to see some players moving on, but that squad turnover is essential if we want to see progress. Fingers crossed JCM or Ngwenya accept the new contract offer. If we can hold onto either, it’d be great news.

I imagine the club has a player budget, and a blend of experience and youth will be needed this season.i suspect we have also offered good terms to JCM et al so that might impact the squad numbers in terms of finance. In a perfect world I am sure we would have held on to Sam Young. If we are looking for promotion this season no doubt tough choices have to be made. Hopefully Sam Young and others can progress their careers elsewhere.

Raises the question as to why Oakley-Boothe started ahead of Cooper, Kane and Rudden in the final if he wasn’t deemed good enough to keep?

cause he was a different type of player picked for a specific role and was also fit.

only surprise is Benedictus being offered a deal, those who werent offered deals are all the correct decisions.

Bene came on at HT v QP away. Started against Arbroath on the last day.

Hard to argue with any of those decisions. So 8 first team squad released/returned to clubs and another 4 out of contract but offered new deals. That seems like a big rebuild! Will be exciting to see what the club have up their sleeve to replace these guys.

Having been at the POTY event it isn`t a surprise that Bene wasn`t released.
James Bord said that he was a true leader who backs and supports his teammates.
I assume maybe partly in reference to the court case.
However, I trust Lennon and maybe he wanted/needed to keep a `leader` hence why Hammy was told he can go.
It does feel like a bit of a sad day though given what Todd and Hammy have done over the last few years for the club.
Also, there example could be great for some of the other younger local players.

Think Bene will have been offered a pay as you play deal along with a coaching role. Otherwise I’d of thought he’d of signed up by now, maybe assessing his options to see what he can get elsewhere. Maybe thinks he can do a job playing all the time.
