Some great coaches there but I fear for the World Cup if Infantino gets his way.

He wants the venture capital company Thrive capital, run by Josh Kushner whose brother Jarrad is married to Donald Trumps daughter, you couldn’t make it up, to lead the investment set up. If they get their hands on the World Cup expect advertising revenue to be maximised which might mean tv ads during injury breaks and quarters instead of halves. I can’t see UEFA agreeing to back such a set up but money talks. Either way the games gone!

UEFA have already put out a very strongly worded statement. And I can see them denying member nations attending if this goes through.

Gianni is more corrupt than Blatter, the difference is Sepp at least tried to hide it.

I cannot see Infantino nor FIFA surviving if this proceeds and is successful.

This would force a break-away organisation to be born and countries would jump ship.

It`s surely a massive gamble investment wise?

If say UEFA (25% of FIFA members) were to boycott World Cups, or establish their own FIFA MK2 off the back of this then the value of that American investment would plummet.

This might just be UEFA looking for a bigger cut.

From the BBC article about this:-

Fifa said its plan is to extend global development funding to $10bn (£7.5bn). It is also planning to offer each of the 211 member associations the opportunity to access up to $20m (£15m) in one-off capital.

It puts me in mind of one of the times Sepp Blatter was up for re-election where he said he would give countries an extra 250k each `if re-elected`.

As FIFA gives all members the same vote it was seen at the time as a bribe to garner support from less developed countries, particularly those where one person might take the money unopposed. He was obviously re-elected...

Confused by all thus, who owns world cup, presumably fifa. Do they have shareholders or owners. So who does the money actually go to.
Anyway crap idea. Uk football associations are "owned" by uk teams, uefa is "owned" by national associations and fifa is "owned" by continental associations.. but nobody owns anything in the real sense. If we dont agree or like we just ignore and set up independent comoetitions

UEFA issued this statement today. Basically it says they don`t like it but don`t know what to do about it!

"Today we have learned of FIFA’s deadline to associations to support their proposals or have the one-off payout offer withdrawn. This says everything you need to know about this plan.

But having held discussions with many stakeholders across the game, UEFA knows there is significant and growing opposition to FIFA’s scheme. FIFA cannot continue to use our sport to enrich themselves and their friends. We can grow the game correctly. It’s time to prioritise associations, clubs, leagues, players and fans."

Uefa have confirmed that in agreement with all the various bodies across Europe, they will boycott all FIFA competitions should they go ahead with their plans to sell of the World Cup to private investors.

Infantile will be offered the presidency of the new private investment of the world cup. It`s his cushion once he gets booted from Fifa.
When he gave Trump that award I knew he`d sold his arse to money.
Think he will proceed as the offer of £25million to smaller nations will be too good to reject.
Be surprised if there is not a breakaway tournament

Good! UEFA showing a backbone. 55 Nations have stood up to the most corrupt man in football.

Lets see what investment they get when a quarter of the countries that COULD make the world cup have told them to f**k off

I prefer the UEFA Euros better than the world cup.
Let`s have that every 2 years instead of a corrupt
World Cup

All you need is FAs in the like of Spain, France, Germany, Italy and dare I say England to state they won`t compete and FIFA is done. They can perhaps try and bribe the smaller nations but a "World" Cup without the big teams would be a joke.

https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/concacaf-joins-uefa-rejecting-gianni-192901759.html

CONCACAF has joined UEFA in rejecting the FIFA proposal, but hasn`t specifically said it will boycott FIFA tournaments.

The Asian Football Confederation has questioned the lack of consultation on the FIFA process but hasn`t outright rejected the proposal.

The Confederation of African Football will discuss the FIFA proposal next week but has restated its own objective to secure greater funding for football in Africa.

I haven`t seen any statement yet from the South American CONMEBOL or the Oceania Football Confederation.
