Are we just relying on strikers to score goals? No point trying to win corners as we are crap at them and if I see us boot it out the park from kick off again I’m going to lose my mind. A lot of faffing about at the back crept in later in the game too which to me indicates a lack of ideas what to do with the ball. Not a lot of good movement at times. However, we aren’t doing a great deal wrong. Just silly things that can be addressed. Just shoot ffs!! Reply |
102. Author: Sacktheref69 Date: Sun 6th Sep 2026. 08:18 The positive is that we are creating chances, which is a big plus. The issue is we aren`t converting them. That`s slightly worrying when you consider we`re already in the habit of conceding soft goals. It`s still early days, but 6 points from the next 2 games is a must if we genuinely want to challenge. We can`t afford to give teams a sizeable gap and then leave ourselves chasing the challenge late in the season like we did last year. That said, we have considerably more strength and depth than we had last season, so there`s plenty of reason to be positive. Hopefully, once the strikers start putting the chances away, we can mount a serious challenge because we`re playing some brilliant stuff at times. The performances are there but we just need to start being more ruthless in both boxes. This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it. Reply
103. Author: Indiapar1 Date: Sun 6th Sep 2026. 11:39 Other than St J last season we were arguably the most successful club in the championship. I do wonder if that changes the mindset of most of the clubs in tge league such that they keep it tight and try to score from set pieces or breakaways. If so we need to develop an attitude of being clinical in front of goal. G Wardrope Reply

108. Author: General Zod Date: Sun 6th Sep 2026. 14:44 Does anyone know how Arbroath got their free kick that led to the goal? I totally missed it yesterday and there’s nothing on the highlights. Reply
109. Author: wee eck Date: Sun 6th Sep 2026. 14:51 It was for a foul allegedly by Amade. Initially the ref played on but then stopped the play, gave the free kick and booked Amade. I was hoping to see it on the highlights as it looked harsh. We still had to defend it better though. Reply
110. Author: Berry Date: Sun 6th Sep 2026. 15:04 It was a free kick, it was a soft one like but Amade made an attempt to pull the arm back. Reply

112. Author: Indiapar1 Date: Sun 6th Sep 2026. 15:30 neilholland999, Sun 6 Sept 13:15 My definition of success is the fact that NL took on a squad of players that were not necessarily his choice and nearly relegated, and turned them around to reach the championship playoffs, beat the third placed side, reach the scottish cup final to be beaten by the best team in Scotland. In terms of the playoffs, had the number of league games not been so compressed at the end we may have faired better. In terms of resources, did we have more fiancial resources available to us? Not sure. St J had parachute payments, and I suspect PT are/were well funded. To look at this another way, would another club such as RR, Ayr Utd etc. say they had underperformed under the same circumstances? Its obviously important to assess where we went wrong last season, but also to focus on what went well. Are we the finished article, no, but there are signs that we improving albeit we are not putting away goal scoring opportunities. I`m sure it will come. Underperforming to me is where we finished the season before. G Wardrope Reply

115. Author: Angus_W Date: Sun 6th Sep 2026. 17:16 In the Arbroath highlights Tod is pulled off balance just as he’s about to pull the trigger. It’s exactly the same foul that Amade was rightly booked for. It’s a penalty & a booking. That’s fitba!! Post Edited (Sun 06 Sep 18:53) Reply

117. Author: Bandy Date: Sun 6th Sep 2026. 17:56 ah - the old `rule` that it can`t be a foul if the attacker gets a shot away. I mind kane getting studs in the shins at Starks which wasn`t a foul because he got a (crap) shot away microseconds before Reply
118. Author: summeragent Date: Sun 6th Sep 2026. 18:42 Indiapar1, Sat 05 Sep 19:47 Lack of crosses, playing too much through the centre. We never look dangerous from set pieces and corners are a non event. Ngwenya used to get on the end of some corners but can’t see anyone else who looks like doing so. Reply
