21. Author: buffy Date: Tue 17th Dec 2024. 17:57 It’s assault IpswichPar, but it didn’t harm the person. If there had been, the sentence would have been different. Sentencing isn’t the same for every person or for the same type of crime. I can’t even begin to explain the complexity of the work involved before it even goes to court. 22. Author: ipswichpar Date: Tue 17th Dec 2024. 18:07 Understood Buffy. I understand an assault on an Emergency Services worker is an aggravating factor....do you know if the same applies to MPs? Reply |
23. Author: buffy Date: Tue 17th Dec 2024. 19:13 As far as I’m aware (and this may be different in England) there aren’t different rules for the employment of the person assaulted. Happy to be corrected on this. It’s not something I’ve come across in my work, so far. ”Buffy’s Buns are the finest in Fife”, J. Spence 2019” Reply |

30. Author: Playup_Pompey Date: Mon 23rd Dec 2024. 15:03 just need to watch 24 hours in police custody and some of the sentences people get for the crimes they commit is wild. This series a mental stalker case and a domestic abuse case both left me totally speachless at sentences handed out Reply |

They`re attracted to the power. The psychopath list is terrifying, policemen, doctors, journalists, any job that comes with power. Pars fan. Magpies fan. Mens tennis fan. Alternative rock fan. Doctors who are leaving the NHS because of the lack of resources? Journalists who have the police knocking on their door for non-crime hate incidents? Them psychopaths? COYP Reply |
33. Author: jake89 Date: Wed 1st Jan 2025. 12:40 The issue with crime is no two cases are the same. There are also issues with unreported crime. People don`t bother as they either don`t see the point as they think nothing will happen, or it`s a community thing where people don`t "grass". Even if they do report crimes, the police resource isn`t there and the prisons aren`t big enough. We`ve then got people committing crimes over and over as it`s the only way to gain access to the support they need. Anyway, happy new year! Reply |
34. Author: buffy Date: Wed 1st Jan 2025. 16:58 Exactly Jake. Also, some people who consistently commit crime do so because they don’t know any other way of life. They prefer to be in prison being told what to do - a routine, you may say. It’s sad but if the resources aren’t there to help them stay out of a criminal life then they’ll never change. Re the topic title ~ sentences are given to the crime committed and the person committing them. They may appear to be inconsistent to anyone not working in law but no two people are the same. ”Buffy’s Buns are the finest in Fife”, J. Spence 2019” Reply |
35. Author: NMCmassive Date: Wed 1st Jan 2025. 21:24 Maybe because someones grandad got jailed for holding a sign and shouting at the police post a group of little girls being murdered in front of their families “Body-worn camera footage, played to Sheffield Crown Court in the summer, showed 61-year-old Lynch screaming "you are protecting people who are killing our kids and raping them" and "scum" at police with riot shields.” While others are being convicted of making and or possessing nonce pictures (and more btw. Nathan Green was caught offering his unborn child to other nonces) yet they are avoiding custodial sentences 🤷🏻♂️ COYP Reply |

37. Author: NMCmassive Date: Thu 2nd Jan 2025. 15:48 Dave_1885, Wed 1 Jan 22:56 The name of the thread is inconsistent sentences… And just for the record, he didn’t deserve a custodial sentence. The same as other protesters haven’t deserved custodial sentences whether I agreed with their message or not. Being part of a protest should be part of your right to freedom of expression. You could protest price fixing of baked beans or the Phoebus cartel, it’s not for others to decide the message you want to promote COYP Reply |

40. Author: jake89 Date: Sat 11th Jan 2025. 09:55 Perhaps a bit off topic but relates to a local situation. I`ve just read on Fife Jammers that a young guy (19) was jumped at Dunfermline Tesco last night seemingly unprovoked. He`s been battered black and blue and the local constabulary have told him to not take it further because it was teenagers (under 18) and he landed a blow to the face of one of them so would be charged for assault of a minor. Is it any wonder crimes don`t get reported anymore?! No doubt the head of police in Fife will be telling us soon that crime is at an all time low! Reply |
