Topic: Nuclear Event

The panic buying thread got me thinking , if the Russians were to set of a regional nuclear event to show their power. would they chose a British site over a central European country, with us being surrounded by water?

If so,what would be the favoured location to them?

Maybe they`ll run vote and the people of the UK can choose the location.

Working from top to bottom - Lossiemouth, Faslane, Rosyth, Barrow, Portsmouth, Plymouth. Add in a smattering of RAF bases in middle England as well.

Hit our North Sea/nuclear hubs first, then allows you free reign to do whatever with the rest. Mind you hitting those 3 targets in Scotland wipes out 80% of the population.

And if they did that they wouldn`t have many reins left to do much with.

American neutrality is key to things remaining conventional, unfortunately or rather inevitably there will be a new US administration (no matter which side wins) in place in 1000 days and that will change.

I`m not sure why we are involved in a foreign civil war, but we are where we are.

Yanks are not neutral lol. One of the biggest sources of global destabilisation for decades.

Probably a nation who`s leadership describes us as an "eternal enemy" and has a state broadcaster who has described us as "enemy number one". They`d have to have nuclear weapons of course.

Did you ever see "Blast From The Past" with Christopher Walken ?

There is a thing called the Paradox of Incentives. Apparently former bodyguards have stated that the first thing they would do is eliminate their employer. In a situation where society has broken down, their money has become worthless and suddenly they are sharing a space with a highly trained killer (probably former marine, SAS, M16), the balance of power would shift suddenly, when the bodyguard realises their employer has no value to them, their survival instinct kicks in and they will kill them.

So, every cloud, and all that

Would imagine London would be out of the equation due to the amount of Russian money entrenched there!🤔

The likelihood of that is extremely small. The truth is 1 of our subs can deliver 48 warheads from 1 full on strike so even if they totally levelled the entire UK landmass, they won’t get away freely.

Very true.

If we can deliver 48 warheads from 1 full on strike the Russians will be somewhat similar but their nuclear arsenal dwarfs our.

What is the chances of it happening though? We all set all our nukes of at once so the whole world be done?
How long do i have to stay in my bunker for? 5 years....10 years?

Going by wargame scenarios is is questionable we would even respond to a first strike. The most likely outcome is our submarines head to an Australian port without firing a single missle.

Going way back, I was terrified by the Cuban missile crisis, mainly because it was well televised.

I think today`s generation are more concerned who is going in the Jungle or the winner of Strictly !
