Tim Davie and the CEO both resign. The BBC broadcast ( Panorama ) a doctored Trump speech regarding the Jan 6th trouble on Capitol Hill. The broadcast speech had been doctored to give the impression Trump incited the riot. They took words by DT that were 50 mins apart and made it look like he had said things that he patently did not. Blatant lies and propaganda from the BBC. Same tactics used during the miners strike and the same tactics used in Scotland on an almost daily basis with their anti independence , anti SNP agenda.

The state broadcaster is an utter disgrace and has been for decades.

When someone once criticised the Russian media , Putin responded by saying at least it is free in Russia as opposed to the U.K. whereby you have to pay to have propaganda beamed into your house. Stopped paying the license fee years ago.

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Davie had to go.

This was not a "mistake", they thought Harris would win and this would be rewarded by an increase in their usaid funds.

They spunked £3 million up the wall on BBC Verify led by a liar and fantasist Marianna Spring should be closed down and the whole organisation put into special measures.

It`s a shame that the BBC editing the way in which the speech was show after the fact has been used to deflect from Trump`s actions.

And the Tories are only piling in because they have all been caught out for lying and misleading the British public.

Hopefully they can get the right leadership and organisational change to get it back to what it should be doing much more consistently.

I heard on the radio that a woman from Dunfermline had emailed saying Trump said lots of bad stuff instigating the riots. I`m sure she`s completely correct, and I am no fan of Trump. However, the BBC has "impartial" in its mission statement. They shouldn`t be splicing things to make it appear like someone`s saying something they haven`t.

I`ve said on here before that there`s a serious issue with the media and general population picking out little snippets of a speech to promote hate. This applies on both the left and right. We saw it to extremes during the independence campaign and through Brexit. As much as we like to think we`re independent thinkers, we`re influenced by a handful of people in the press.

Trump threatening legal action with a claim of at least $1Bn by the end of the week if BBC don`t retract the claims and apologise.

Maybe we should offer him another State visit to appease him.

You have to laugh at Trump accusing anyone of propagating `fake news`. The editing was obviously a bad mistake but a congressional inquiry in the States concluded that Trump was responsible for the attack on the Capitol so I`m not sure how the BBC coverage defamed him. He`s just another rich guy using his wealth to cow anyone who disagrees with him.

The editing wasn’t a mistake Eck, it was a deliberate planned action to make Trump appear to be saying things that he patently did not say.

Bag of wind or not, what the BBC did is utterly disgraceful.

They did the same after the battle of Orgreave, same lies after Hillsborough, and have repeatedly broadcast lies about the Israeli slaughter/ genocide in Gaza.

They are a disgraceful organisation and should be shut down.

Anyone who pays the license fee is contributing to their lies, distortion and blatant propaganda.

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

I didn`t see the programme in which it was broadcast but it was well-balanced apparently and gave a voice to many Trump supporters.

What about these subscription channels? Do they always tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

The fact we still have a TV licence is laughable. It`s pretty rare that I watch the BBC yet I pay £15 a month for it.

I think the content is generally quite good personally.

I would much rather have an impartial public broadcaster than media outlets run by the super wealthy.

We don’t have an impartial broadcaster though….

BBC will try and portray that image but they are getting caught out.

They destroyed Jeremy Corbyn with smears and lies and they are undoubtedly bias in any reporting regarding Scotland and Independence.

When was the last time there was ever a good news story about Scotland ? Negative, negative, spin , spin, continually.

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

I’m enjoying Kingdom, the new David Attenborough series, and have just binge-watched Riot Women on iplayer. Great stuff. Give me the bbc channels over any other.

I take your point, but.....

I think there`s a distinction to be made between BBC News and the BBC more widely.

The other news outlets are all biased one way or the other generally.

As with all things in life currently it appears that folk find it difficult to appreciate the grey areas and expect everything to be black or white.

Change and improvement is definitely required but I don`t think it is as bad as some are making out personally.

I probably watch the iplayer more than the main channels. There`s always something interesting there. Financial cut-backs have obviously taken their toll and BBC4 is virtually an archive channel now, or a nostalgia channel for old codgers like me.

There`s a good article by Polly Toynbee in today`s Guardian defending the BBC and warning of the threat to its very existence from the right.

Would you prefer if all media outlets were controlled by rich, powerful individuals who want to control the news available to the public? Surely that`s a bigger threat to democracy than the BBC?

BBC quality has gone downhill at the same time we`re seeing higher quality output from streaming services which are providing programming at the same or lower cost than the BBC licence fee.

BBC news isn`t any better than other channels. Most of the "news" I see nowadays comes from YouTube. There`s so much quality content being produced in YouTube nowadays. The likes of the BBC and ITV have lost their way. There used to be some great low-budget programmes for things like computer games. These seem to be long gone.

They are called streaming giants for a reason....being able to spread you content across potentially billions of users rather than tens of millions, and having adverts on the platform significantly changes the commercial model.
