He is to call a press conference today (in an hour’s time) to call for Keir Starmer to step down.

Sarwar claims that "no one" in Scottish politics has had a better relationship with Keir Starmer than he has.

The Scottish Labour leader says he has worked alongside Starmer for the last five years, having "campaigned ferociously" for the PM.

He says his call for Starmer to resign today causes "personal hurt and pain", but reiterates that Scotland is his first priority.

Absolute bs - he knows that his branch office will get pummelled in may because of the unpopularity of his bosses down south

“Scottish” Labour in full blown protection mode knowing they will now get swept away by the SNP and Reform in May. Trying to save some votes now.

Its also quite funny watching the British media trying to create more SNP scandals in the run up to the election, the latest being about Stephen Flynn going to watch Scotland in the World Cup 😂

This is being carefully orchestrated. Starmer won`t go but won`t it look good for Sarwar to be standing up for Scotland and distancing a toxic UK Labour from Scottish Labour? As soon as the Holyrood elections are over he can go back to supporting Starmer.

Indeed. The echo of tomorrow hums softly inside the shadow of a thought that never happened.

True, they are just an accounting unit but it seems Anas is trying to distance his band of merry men from the London lot.

You mean Anas wants Scottish Labour to be `independent`? Surely not!

Always said that Labour could do ok for themselves if they became pro-Independence...

Likewise, the SNP should attack Labour and LibDems for abandoning core values in favour of British Nationalism...and they`ve really failed on taking that line

Did anyone see the episode of Shetland where there was a character named Sarwar? He was a solicitor working on behalf of a dodgy crime boss in Glasgow. The character was a sleekit messenger boy. Just wondering who they based it on 😉

They aren`t though. They can split off from UK Labour but they`ll likely remain unionists. If/when Scotland gains independence it can be run by whichever party is elected. In reality we wouldn`t need the SNP or Alba in an independent Scotland. We`d either have the current parties we`d have a mix of left, centrist and right parties.

Wait a minute -

`Anas Sarwar, the Scottish Labour leader, has agreed that Keir Starmer can campaign for Labour in the Holyrood elections only days after calling for the prime minister to resign.

In a marked change of position, Sarwar said Starmer and other UK cabinet ministers were welcome to support Scottish Labour’s faltering bid to win the May election but only if they demonstrated how the UK government was improving lives in Scotland.` (The Guardian}

That`s the kind of decisiveness we`re looking for in a First Minister!
