14. Author: The Roy Barry Fan Club Date: Wed 1st Oct 2014. 22:36 The thirty successful auction bidders and the raffle winner will each receive the following letter from Club Chairman, Bob Garmory. We thank everyone who bids and everyone who buys a raffle ticket. ----------------------------------------------------------------- From: Bob Garmory Chairman Dunfermline Athletic Football Club East End Park Dunfermline KY12 7RB Dear Dunfermline Athletic ‘Lest We Forget’ shirts I wanted to write and thank you for bidding for one of the thirty unique DAFC ‘Lest We Forget’ shirts. By doing so, you have enabled the Club to make a very substantial donation to Poppyscotland. We have already donated firkins of beer to both the Army Personnel Recovery Centre in Edinburgh and the Erskine Home for Veterans, along with a cash donation from our successful World War I day to Poppyscotland. A look at the many War Memorials that stand in every West Fife community shows the scale of the losses borne by our community in World War 1. Sadly that was not ‘the war to end all wars’ and to this day members of our community continue to serve their country in places of conflict and suffer injury as a result. Poppyscotland does a tremendous job to help those people. We must never forget that we were only able to save our club because we acted together and helped each other to achieve what many thought was impossible. Our intention this year is to help Poppyscotland raise as much money as possible to allow them to continue their invaluable work to assist those who need help. On a Saturday, Dunfermline Athletic may win or lose. As supporters we can do little to influence the results on the field other than to help build a stronger, more vibrant community owned football club with decent values. That is what we aim to do and your actions in supporting this unique auction is yet further evidence that this is what we are now doing. I thank you for your help in this regard. Come on Ye Pars Bob Garmory Chairman Reply |
