Golden Fry in Lochgelly with A&R Fish bar in the opposite corner, 2 giants in the fish supper department.

Either would solve any world food famine.

Argument settled. My mammy worked in both Golden Birds which were originally owned by the same person. Through time they changed names and ownership. Incidentally that was when you could get a swim and a bag of chips for a shilling, a Bob even ... (5p).
A tanner for a dook and a tanner for a poke.

You would need to be leathered though.

Gennaros being my local is my usual go to. Probably the best portions/value for money in the Toon. Usually pretty good quality too.

Someone mentioned Romanos. Go there if I'm after a pudding supper. Black pudding in particular is awesome.

Special Fish supper from Sauros still my favourite chippie meal ever though. 90's/early noughties, was in there for one every Fri evening

Amends do batterers Stornaway Black Pudding, I can't quite work it out if it works.
It's far better with scallops and pea puree!

Crail Fish Bar, fish supper on a bench at the Castle with the Gulls squaking overhead and the smell of the sea, looking out at the May island lighthouse beaming it's light as the sun dips below the horizon and the kids at Mrs L's mum's.

Tried Hook & Catch tonight.
Decent food & a decent portion.
Prices are pretty good too, fish supper under £5 & puddings under £4.

Thought it looked open. Isn't it just Marinis with a different name?

Don't think so. Completely rebranded & additional menu items like sea bass.
Menu & prices on their website.
The prices on the menu are the sit in prices, takeaway is cheaper.

even just looking at the website its the most "Dulloch" thing there is. You are a chippy in dunfermline stop thinking you are an up-market eating establishment in the middle of edinburgh.

Don't see any harm in trying to be different to any other chippy in Dunfermline.

Inverted snobbery. It's rife around these parts.

Had a fish supper from Hook and catch earlier in the week, fish standard but the chips were good. Prices reasonable too. However it's in Duloch and you know how bitter some folk are about anything in the area that it might struggle.

Hook & Catch & Marinis are both owned by Tony Macaroni

"However it's in Duloch and you know how bitter some folk are about anything in the area that it might struggle."

dont think its a bitterness, from a large amount of experience people want an edinburgh lifestyle without paying edinburgh prices for property so work and socialize the other side of the bridge and evening meals more likely to be from waitrose/M&S rather than a chippy whilst others have moved or have been moved there from other areas of the town and already have existing relationships with already open establishments

Not sure what relevance your point has to my quote given the bitterness is from folk who dont live in Duloch and you reference those that do.

My concern for the place is the general disdain in the town for Duloch means anything trying to establish itself there that isn't a "brand " is going to struggle.

I live in Duloch having moved over from Edinburgh. I go wherever is nearest and don't expect an "Edinburgh lifestyle" whilst living in suburbia. So many people with a "chip" on their shoulder. Duloch isn't posh and folk there don't think they're posh. If they do then they're no doubt a bit Hyacinth Bucket.

Might give the Hook and Catch a go. Must be better than the establishments the common-folk from outside Duloch frequent 😂
