DNCH, Sun 10 Mar 04:39

If my math is right, based on the last 3 years, about 39 points or 10 wins should see us safe. We need to get this season over with and then come back with a plan. Which hopefully doesn`t involve Peter Grant total football.

Thanks for that, DNCH. I was going to check these stats myself. I think we need 3 wins from our last 8 games, or a combination of wins and draws, to be safe.

Nobody will expect us to take 3 pts on Friday, which may actually work in our favour. United are hardly unbeatable, and we did OK last time we were on the telly. šŸ¤ž

We bossed that game up until the 2nd goal. Both goals were totally avoidable.

On another day that game would`ve been the most comfortable 0-0 or even 1 nil to us.

We need to make the keeper work more.

There is an absolute belting team in amongst the squad we just need to unlock the potential. Can the current management team do that? I don`t know.

I do believe we will be seeing the likes of McCann, summers, moffat for years to come. Similar to us seeing Byrne and shankland etc have decent careers.

87Par,

im gonna call it now. ,KRH will not be as effective in this league.

He won’t be as effective playing against better defenders? That’s hardly rocket science, is it ?

Ewan has so much potential but his first touch is a literal bombscare at times. I do wonder what Pars fans see sometimes.

Perhaps his strength, running power, attitude and ability to play in a number of positions ? His first touch and passing will improve as he matures.

Matty needs to get up a gear. He`s a talent. But it`s business end now.

He’s missed a lot of games. You don’t get up to match fitness after a game or two and everyone is allowed an off day

Tough one to take given we had the majority of possession and generally looked pretty comfortable throughout but fair play to Raith, they took their chances.

This season is all about avoiding relegation and I still think we’ll do just that but it will be a close run thing.

I don’t think anyone really expected us to win today, if they did then perhaps they’ve been disillusioned by recent performances.

The positives are we got Benedictus back fit and more minutes in KRH and Todd.

It’s also a tough fixture out the way, and very little ground made up by other teams in similar bother. Appreciate isn’t a great way to think about things, but this is where we are at the moment.

Dundee Utd next Friday we could well face a similar fate.

The signings of Holmes etc I’m reserved on my view on them tbh, when you see who McPake went for, they were the right kind of signings but it could’ve been a case of slim pickings in the end and a matter of just urgently needing to make the numbers up.

We talk about McCann, every manager pre McPake has really rated him, are all of them wrong?

I struggle to defend Mehmet though, really not a fan, beggars belief he got such a long contract off the back of a League One season and that save from the free kick was quite frankly brutal.

The question is how do we turn the good outfield play into opportunities in front of goal. You can only play as well as the other teams let you. We get closed down too easily in the final 3rd of the park, and when we do get opportunities we don`t hit the target enough and work the keeper. Obviously, the purpose of the game is to win. That means you have to score goals. We are doing everything else but that hence we are in the position we are. We are not a bad team, we have good players, but we need to focus more on creating chances and hitting the target more.

In addition. Not sure you were at the game yesterday or not but you could hear the fans wanting it to go wide to Kane. But expectations need to be lowered cos this league is different gravy.

And sorry Raymie I want someone who is effective in this league especially given the position we find ourselves in.. I dont want to have to wave to Falkirk on the way past. See my post after the match before I get labled.

KRH was very frustrating yesterday. Earlier in the season whenever Jakubiak got it wide, he would always try to beat his man down the line - didn’t always come off but at least he had a go. KRH didn’t once try beat his man yesterday, even when squared up against the booked Easton, he would always cut back then do nothing of note.

ā€˜The foreseeable future’ is what I’ve been told. Seems quite telling that the manager didn’t address his absence in his interviews. Really hope I’m wrong, but if it was short-term I’d have thought McPake would want to reassure us of Kane’s availability, given how much we miss him on the pitch.

I know I will get accused of being patronising etc. but here is my take on Dunfermline.

I feel that we defended better than we have in a long time.
Big Kev`s save was phenomenal. If that went in you would have had a really good chance at getting something from the game. Thankfully it was kept out.
I have so much respect for Kyle Benedictus - apart from being a genuinely nice guy he put in a good shift and the fact he has been out for so long I felt he played well. He is an asset to your team.
Your keeper is as questionable as a keeper as Callum Smith is as a penalty taker.
You played the ball around better than I have seen all season. The problem was no cutting edge up front. Every DAFC supporter I know tells me you need someone who can score goals... on that performance that is very true.

Can’t disagree with that. I’d say we were possibly the better team in 2/3 of the pitch, until we took Otoo off. After that, Rovers were dominant all over the pitch. However, the struggles in the final third have been there all season and there’s no excuse for not sorting this. Jakubiak (and others at times) made some good runs, then played the ball into dangerous areas and the only question was which Raith player was going to get there, since we had nobody trying to get into a scoring position.

Longer term concern is we are stuck with some of these diddies for at least another season after dishing out multi year contracts. Folk like O Halloran, Wighton n Mehmet must’ve thought they’d won the lottery getting offered multi year deals.

It`s about time he was coming out and saying what we can all see,but hes responsible for giving him reportably a three year contract.

KRH played his first full game after missing virtually three-quarters of the season. The only way he will get sharper is by playing games. I thought he did OK, all things considered.

Agree with wee eck on KRH, his game is about sharpness in terms of pace etc so he’s going to need a good few weeks to get that sharpness back to give the edge over defenders. He may well struggle to make an impact but we won’t know for sure until the last 5 games of the season.

What I don’t understand is playing a 3-5-2 type formation when we don’t have any strikers? I’m not sure which position you would consider Jak and McCann as being ā€˜good’ at but they ain’t strikers.

If your plan was to play this way this season why sign or extend contracts of players like Jak, o’hallaran and McCann they just don’t fit into the system regardless of if they are even good enough which is a different issue.

Now we’re likely stuck with 2 of them warming a bench next season perhaps even alongside wighton if he ever regains fitness.
