Live music too loud, with a couple of lubricated patrons howling along with the poor singer, most of them belting along, warbling well out of tune. Maybe 45 people were in - what a waste of space. Thought it would be nice change from Legends - not impressed.  Reply |

Author: Luxembourg Par Date: Sat 28th Sep 2024. 16:03 Wasn’t complaining about someone being drunk in a bar - imagine that, being affected by alcohol in a place selling, well, alcohol… The table next to us had 3 guys howling along to the music. As for suggestions? We went there as the steward at Legends said it was “awffy busy and there is more chance of getting served in Charlie D’s” Change a ‘winning formula’ ? Reply |

Each to their own but it doesn`t sound great based on that description. I`ve never been in so have no suggestions for improvements. I like a bit of live music but maybe needs to be more awareness of who`s performing? Who was it yesterday? Reply |

Nothing against live music - but I suggest this is not the time or place. What next? Dim the lights, have a mirrored disco ball and a dance floor? I imagine most people going for a beer before a football match typically want to talk - surprisingly - about the upcoming match, any music, be it live, jukebox or whatever, should be background noise, not the focus. My ‘suggestion’ was that if Legends was too full to get served, then perhaps that formula was working and should be applied to Charlie D’s too. As I said, nothing against live music, but ‘time and place’ for it is not pre-match at a football ground. Further, the low attendance numbers suggest that most folk are similarly minded. Reply |

| 16. Author: Roger Daltrey Date: Sun 29th Sep 2024. 11:07 As much as I was disappointed yesterday with the turnout/atmosphere in Charlie D`s, the issue is not the live music. It`s been there since the days of Save the Pars and is known for it. Atmosphere used to blow Legends away, which is full of stuffy centre stand types. (Yes, it is). The issue is the club have done nothing to build on Charlie D`s, preferring not to open it for more games than most. People don`t know if they`ll be able to use it from week to week so have filtered off to other pre game establishments over time. The reason being `lack of bar staff`. Making it more like Legends for someone who usually goes to Legends is not the answer. Reply |
| 17. Author: Alter Ego Date: Sun 29th Sep 2024. 11:22 Charlie d’s would probably be more busy but the fact is a lot of people aren’t going to the football with the guff they are seeing on the pitch. I know at least 10/15 people who aren’t going who would regularly attend Charlie D’s and there will be more. Mon the Pars! Reply |
