I remember last year going into Charlie D`s .a few of my friends wanted to come in but the person on the door wouldn`t let them in as she said only 75 people were allowed in .and she had a clicker counting everyone that went in and out

They have one for legends and have done for a good while.

Aye I know that but you`re allowed 200 in legends

Go to legends for a more chilled out experience or Charlie D’s for a more vocal live music experience…most clubs would love a choice to give their fans options but yet again someone who has come over gives their opinion as he’s a .net supporter!

Legends was alright until they got a boy playing music now you can hardly hear the boy next to you. The music choice is guff as well to be fair.

Apparently there was a poll taken in Legends to see what folk thought of the music in Legends, funny though, those first 3 tables at the speaker ( around 20 fans were not asked their opinion. Then subsequently I have been fibbed to by 2 senior peeps at the club. That 20 people that used to go to legends is now down to around 5. It’s a shame really. Mind you it was better on Saturday I could even hear my crisp paper rustle.

I use Charlie D`s, in fact I was in before yesterday`s game. Then Legends after the game. Result and performance aside the craic with friends and associates was great as usual.

I like the atmosphere, the people and the music in Charlie D`s, which has been a fixture for over a decade so any Pars fans using the hospitality facilities knows this. The regularity of it`s opening has been sporadic due to staff issues, but it`s open more often or not but it does affect the attendance. It was really busy pre-match against Falkirk and not so much yesterday (however some bored punter seen fit to count 45 which is just over 50% full). Legends post match was also poorly patronised and empty by 7.30pm. Tbh I don`t think anyone should be surprised at poor attendance in any capacity around the stadium on match days just now given what`s going on at the club. But I`ll do my best to keep putting my hard earned cash into the club.
The club have their Ops meeting on a Thursday and decide what facilities are going to be open and (now and again) I`ll ask someone at the club to confirm Charlie D`s is open. Then I`ll find out who`s arranged for providing the music (arranged by a fellow fan for years) and advertise it on the Pars Facebook pages, EEB, P&B and occasionally on here. I don`t think the club give it much consideration compared to other hospitality sections but it`s kinda been organic and left to fans to make of it what they will (to a degree). It works fine and I`ve never had anyone at the club moan about it in any way whatsoever.

To those being critical of the use of the space, criticising the booked artists ability, the insinuation of drunken fans make too much noise, you are of course entitled to your opinion, but my opinion is you`re speaking an absolute load of nonsense. The originator of this thread was in for about 20 minutes yesterday having never been in before and finds it within himself to provide an opinion that was both deliberately provocative and unnecessarily disparaging. I`ve no idea of the motive, but it smacks of puerile reasoning.
If you didn`t like the music, you have a choice to leave, if any fellow fans were getting on your nerves then why not say to them. I was sitting with my wife and friends right next to you and you said nothing apart to ask my wife if the chair next to her was free, which it wasn`t. You could have moved away, but strangely you didn`t.

Just to clarify there wasn`t any issues with behaviour at all and nobody was drunk, mortal, minging, out order, singing over the artist. In fact everyone seemed to enjoy it, apart from you.
Cheer up min.

☝🏻 cracking post 👍🏻

Well that seemed to go down well...

Just before I reply, I`d like to enquire as to how many times I am required to attend before I am entitled to have a valid opinion?

ok - let`s start

45 people isn`t a great turnout or use of space, regardless of the music.
If it`s normally much busier and I hit a low day, then fair enough
- but given that Legends was apparently `rammed`, it can`t just be the miserable football causing the lack of `punters`.

I did not critisise the artist`s ability, in fact, I expressed sympathy for him, even adding a post to clarify my use of the word `poor` -
"not a verdict on his singing…"

The music was, imho, too loud for a football bar, I wasn`t aware that it was a gig setting rather than background music.
- Roger Daltrey above seems to agree;
"You are correct the music was too loud today"
inferring perhaps that it was louder than normal?

"if any fellow fans were getting on your nerves then why not say to them"
Ohhhh - you`re suggesting that immediately upon entering a bar for the first time, I start telling a group of existing patrons to `shut it`?
I`ll take that under advisement, but humbly suggest that it`s not really a great line to take.

The table I was referring to appears to be the very one occupied by NW_1966, the loudest `out-of-tune-belter` was sitting, leaning back against the wall, next to the nice lady I spoke (politely) to - you perhaps?
Methinks maybe thou doth protest too much...

Besides, I said `lubricated` - not "drunk, mortal, minging, out order", however "over the artist" most definitely (note that I didn`t say `singing` :D )

Anyway, NW_1966 - do we know each other?
I didn`t recognise anyone at your table - apologies if I failed to remember you from years gone by.

However, I didn`t think me or my brother were particulary famous in Dunfermline to be instantly recognised and identified - please advise.

Otherwise, was it a `spit-and-sawdust` moment where someone from outwith the "Charlie D clique" dared to enter your domain?
And, OMG, had the cheek to buy a pint and have an opinion?
- In future, am I required to ask permission? give advance notice? sing along?
(be advised, my singing is probably worse than yours...)

So that’s a no then 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 thanks for proving once again that you would rather have a bitch and moan on .net than actually take up your issue with the person at fault

There wasn`t anyone there to tell if there was the qué for him to turn the music down or off would have been bigger than the one for the bar.

What so your telling me there was no one In the dj booth up by the ladies? that must me some bit of kit the club has if it can switch on all by its self and then select songs place them in a queue then play them all without human interaction imagine the players we could buy if we sold that

The music is not needed , but if they are to have it , make the volume low enough that folk can speak to someone sitting next to them

You can pre program a play list and leave the booth. Been able to do that for years. However that is not the issue obviously. I have politely spoke to the DJ and Alister and was treated to like something that they had stood on. However enhancing the match day experience eh?

First time in here.

Whit a waste.

Live music too loud, with a couple of lubricated patrons howling along with the poor singer, most of them belting along, warbling well out of tune.

Maybe 45 people were in - what a waste of space.

Thought it would be nice change from Legends - not impressed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wait till the game starts - Then you`ll really have something to moan about.

It`s very easy to press play and basically any software in the world can play through a playlist.

All the garbage baiting and inherent negativity aside, good to see those who use Charlie D`s on match days saying so.

Hopefully fans will continue to attend on matchdays in good numbers and hopefully local musicians like Jock Gallagher, Stevie Agnew and Gordon Rowan continue to provide their musical services (sure they will). We`ve seen loads of away fans in over the years and I remember a few saying they`d like to see something similar at their own grounds. I think it`s probably unique to have this type of set up in Scotland. I know on the continent they have music in fan zones pre-match, maybe we can develop the situation further as it`s all about the match day experience.
In summary we`ll continue to arrange music and advertise it on social media as long as the club don`t have an issue with it, which they haven`t at any time in the last 10 year or so. It brings in cash and gives pleasure to those who use it, so all very positive.
