Still a place for Wighton. Disapointing to hear some boos when he came on when we were winning 3-0. In fact, more that disappointing - outrageous.

Most embarrassing thing heard at East End in a long time booing on our own player at 3-0 up 🤦🏻‍♂️

Not that I was one, but more likely booing not bringing on Sutherland rather than Wighton himself.

Chri s was simply outstanding. He must be a nightmare to play against. Never gives opposing defenders a minute`s peace. He must be knackered after that all action performance. Hopefully, he`ll be sufficiently recovered to start for us on Saturday. We`re so much better with him up front,

I meant to reply to a poster who said that it looks as if Kane himself decides whether he`s fit enough to play or not. Unbelievable! The insinuation beinga that if he doesn`t fancy it, he declares himself unfit. If that was the case, would he put himself about as much as he does when he does play?

Who would you expect to decide if he`s fit to start or not?

A strikers performance last night. Did what it says on the tin. You can`t ask for any more than that.

I`m pretty sure Steven McLean decided or his doctors did , that he would not play on astro.

Didn,t like the booing either, but surely it was a night to bring on Sutherland rather than Wighton

When he’s on it, there’s no doubt in my mind Kane is one of, if not the, best Strikers in the league. Delighted to have him here because I always think we have a chance with him in the side.

The booing of Wighton is really really disappointing. Yes, I’m no fan myself, but it’s hardly going to help in any way if he’s coming on to that reaction.

Kane looks like he loves playing against teams who try to have the keeper roll it out short to defenders. He`s on his marks at the edge of the box waiting for it to happen to force an error every time. Really hardworking player.

Not really. We`d be in League 1 if he hadn`t arrived when he did last year and has done reasonably well this season with the lack of support he`s received.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

Take a break from the forum bud. We won 3-0, best performance of the season. Kane was immense and you come up with that crass contribution.

What exactly is meant by `when he`s on it`? I would say his attitude and work rate haven`t varied from game to game so I`m a bit puzzled by that.

Chris Kane and Craig Wighton are 2 completely different styles of players. Kane`s style (chasing, harrying and closing down) suits the role he plays up top on his own while Wighton (linking up play and moving the ball quickly) was utilised more as a No 10 for Dundee and Hearts. Stevie Crawford played him alongside Declan McManus and Kevin O`Hara when he came on loan. He scored 16 league goals in his first season for Dunfermline in the Championship. McPake played him as a No 10 alongside Kane in the Kelty and Morton games and he played well in both games.

In the 10 minutes of highlights of the Morton game Wighton was involved in the creation of 3 good chances.
He collected the ball and played a quick 1-2 with Matty Todd to get to the byeline and put in a cross to Comrie who had a header on target that was cleared by a defender. Then from a throw near the halfway line in from Comrie instead of playing it back to him he flicked the ball between 2 defenders before chipping it over a defender to KRH who played it to Kane whose shot was blocked by the keeper. He later pounced on a loose ball and squared it to Matty Todd who shot wide.

Our best 10 is Todd, by a long distance imo

Good analysis, SevenTay. Wighton is certainly not a “rough and tumble” striker like Kane but in the Livingston game, amongst other highlights, I spotted one breathtakingly good ball to KRH which, (and like the examples you listed) whilst it didn’t lead to a goal, was a moment of pure class. When utilised properly I have no doubt that Craig Wighton is still a massive asset to this squad.

You must have been watching the wrong highlights, SevenTay. We were reliably informed that Wighton lost the ball every time he touched it in the game against Morton.

Breathtakingly good? He chipped it over the top and that was his contribution for the day.

We played well against Morton eh! Looked like we were going to score every time we got the ball, Wighton tore them to shreds, It wasn’t like we drew 0-0 against a team that was missing numerous first team players and went on to get humped by Hamilton the next week.

Could well be a player in there but he’s absolutely coasting just now and he was dug meat against Morton.
