Ruben Amorim is the strong favourite to get the job.

Ruben Ameron has been announced tonight as accepting the United managers job by The Manchester Evening News and David Ornstein of the Athletic. According to both the only thing outstanding is the value of the compensation to Sporting Lisbon.

Klopp left Liverpool in a good place and deliberately so for a smooth transition.
Fergie left Man Utd with an ageing squad and nothing for the next manager to work with.
Not saying that’s his fault but United have never recovered from the Fergie years much like Aberdeen in Scotland for over three decades (until now hopefully )

Honestly, the whole Fergie left them in a bad way 9 years and 6 managers later just doesn’t hold up for me anymore but can I just ask, are you seriously saying Aberdeen have struggled to recover since November 1986?? 🤷🏻‍♂️ like at what point do you think the onus is on the club and not on the ex manager?

😂😂😂😂

I can’t help laughing at this like

🤣🤣🤣🤣

The fact that Amorim is almost in the door so quickly would lead you to believe ETH’s sacking has been planned for a while ?

Thats a little harsh buspasspar - his wifes sister had died around Oct/Nov of that season if I remember rightly and he decided that he needed to be with her and focus on her after she had supported his career for so many years.

Dont forget he left them as champions of england with Rooney and Van Persie leading the attack.

Jesus was a joke as he didn`t leave anybody in place to walk in water after he moved on.

Zidane doesn`t speak English apparently but I don`t know if that`s essential nowadays.

I`d argue that a good knowledge of English is absolutely essential, wee eck. Very few managers have been successful when having to speak through an interpreter. Remember Unai Emery at Arsenal. How much better is he faring at Villa now that he has a reasonable grasp of the language?

Bielsa at leeds was a huge success

I`m not sure speaking English is Yorkshire is a prerequisite.

Reports in the MEN suggest recent meetings with Amorim and Xavi’s representatives took place in Barcelona. The new board were there for a meeting with Jim Ratcliffe who was in Barca for the Americas Cup.

There`s always an exception that proves the rule, shelly. 🙂 And anyway, I did say that only a very few managers who don`t speak the native language are successful. Perhaps Claudio Ranieri is the outstanding example. When he arrived at Chelsea, he spoke no English at all. By the time he returned to the Premier League with Leicester, he spoke a little pidgin English and we all know what happened next.....

Not the club itself but their fans couldn’t let it go they were no longer a ‘big’ club for what seemed like decades.

Man united?
I`ve heard they used to be really good but it was a long time ago now.
They`re pretty rubbish these days let`s be honest.
I would be very surprised if they finish the season in the top half of the table.
Still , ... They`ll always have the memories 😆

I`m no fan of Manchester United but them and Liverpool are by far and away the biggest teams in England all the others just have spells that will come and go

Yeah United fans have a generation worth of memories that other clubs will never come close to getting.
