Man united?
I`ve heard they used to be really good but it was a long time ago now.
They`re pretty rubbish these days let`s be honest.
I would be very surprised if they finish the season in the top half of the table.
Still , ... They`ll always have the memories šŸ˜†

Yeah United fans have a generation worth of memories that other clubs will never come close to getting.

Do you not think Man City are well on their way to a similar achievement, da?

Money talks so they say. If any club is liable to overtake City in a few years time, it is more likely to be Newcastle than Man U, for that simple reason, Once they get a top class manager (no direspect to Eddie Howe intended) and DoF etc, like City have done, I think they`ll be able to attract the best players by offering outrageous salaries.

Citys achievements are currently overshadowed in wild litigation matters that tarnish their growth since 2008ā€¦.people will say ā€œbut its not the players that cheatedā€ whilst forgetting that the only reason they could achieve getting these managers/players is through fraud. Thats if they are found guilty of courseā€¦..

City without their owners would slide back to mediocrity. United have the largest fan base in the world and I think are only overshadowed by Real and Barca in revenue.

No structure or actual game plan has been the downfall of United

Itā€™s been a long time coming this one, how he got the time there that he did, is beyond me.

I donā€™t really follow ā€œChampions Leagueā€ football, but what obvious manager is out there to take over from him? Theyā€™ve had some really baffling appointments since Sir Alex retired.

Correct, BB. David Moyes was Fergie`s recommendation of course and he might have succeeded if he had kept Fergie`s backroom staff instead of clearing them out and bringing in his own team. Successive appointments were equally poor if not worse. United really missed the boat by failing to hire either Pep or Klopp and that`s not being wise after the event - I said so at the time. Van Gaal and Mourinho were not good fits at OT and I don`t know how the decision makers could possibly have thought differently.

Ten Hag has struggled from day 1. He doesn`t appear to be great at building a good relationship with the players in his squad.

There seems to be this myth that Mourinho was terrible at United - in 2 seasons he won a League Cup, Europa League, finished 2nd to City (which may be given to them eventually) and had a 58% win ratio for them šŸ˜‚ hardly awful.

Also United a club not afraid of finally punting a manager - unlike some clubsā€¦..

Maybe something to do with deep pockets, or is that beyond you.

GG I just can`t see them dominating English football in the same way United and Liverpool did in the past, especially when Pep moves on. Just my opinion.

Sir Alex won 13 titles in 26 years and Pep has won 6 in 8 I think? Man City have won 10 league titles in their history compared to 20 for Man Utd.It won`t take long for the gap to close on current form.

It`s certainly difficult to see the team that`s won 8 of the last 13 Premier League titles dominating English football.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

Awfy sorry for having an opinion that goes against the grain.

No problem having a different opinion, but does it stand up to close scrutiny? Man City have been pretty dominant domestically since Pep arrived. Of course, it`s not solely down to him - he has sports directors and directors of football, or whatever they`re called, to help him bring in the best players money can buy, and money is no object, of course.

Liverpool were no great shakes until Shankly arrived. He was obsessive and transformed the club from top to bottom. When he retired, he was replaced by a succession of good managers; Bob Paisley, Joe Faagan, Kenny Dalglish. Herself and the European ban hit them hard and the managers following Dalglish didn`t enjoy the same success. This was due at least in part, to the appointment of Alex Ferguson at OT. Importantly, neither club was short of funds during their years of dominance.

In conclusion, we can say that if a club is minted and hires a top manager, it has an excellent chance of dominating its domestic competitions. Think Bayern, PSG, Celtic..... Newcastle will be in the frame before long - they have the money, all they have to do is hire the very best manager they can get, along with a head of recruitment to bring in the players that manager wants and they`ll lift off. Like it or not, the PL is awash with cash.
