I thought Bene was the MoM. He kept everyone going and was solid defensively. I thought Comrie ran a close second, but I think the team generally stood up well. Lewis McCann is a dichotomy, as are most strikers. He has goals in him, and that`s what we need. The Kane substitution was a fairly obvious one. I`d like to see more movement off the ball by Dapo. He has good balance, so if he can create space for himself, he will score goals for us.

Why was the Kane substitution an obvious one?

He had been taken off the previous week or so due to concussion. It was widely reported that due to the rules around concussion, it would be a slow return. He hasn`t fully trained, and I thought that showed a bit as the game went on. The substitution was right for the player.

Some folk just love to be offended! I`ve no idea if McPake `cupped his ear` - I was too busy celebrating the goal - but, if he did, how does it compare with the abuse that is dished out on here every week to him and others who have no possibility to respond?

The fans pay his wages if he can`t take a few folk shouting at him then football management isn`t for him.

I hope you don`t work at a bank, energy company or public sector body then. If you do - quit whining and fix that road/increase my savings rate/reduce my leccy bill!

I work in a public facing job and I can confidently say if I performed as poorly as mcpake I`d have been asked a long time ago.

Arguably hasn`t underachieved this week with 2 wins.

Depends on if you think that scraping to two 1-0 wins against poorer opposition is a real achievement? Did you not say earlier that today’s game wasn’t exactly enthralling?

I said it was brutal. I`m just saying he`d argue he`s not underachieving winning the last 2 games.

McPake is going nowhere. Until new owners come in why would our current owners sack him and the have to pick another. Our new owners might want to bring in someone on 200k a year instead of done one on 60k. Or keep the current manager and give him 2 better players for that money in January

Would you trust mcpake with more funds to sign players? Look at the dross he has signed

If he’s still feeling the effects of the concussion he shouldn’t have been playing. I’ll 100% guarantee that Kane, McPake and the medical team were all happy that he was clear of anything to do with the concussion otherwise, he wouldn’t have played. He’ll already have been through his slow return, a league match isn’t part of a slow return.

I thought Dapo was very lively when he came on. The Airdrie defence were trying to kick lumps put of him and there was one rugby tackle that could almost be a red card. However, the lad needs to get new studs in his boots as he was sliding all over the place in front of the NW.

I think you mean sacked, but I used to be an employee systems manager, and I don`t think you would.

We have now won 3 out of our last 5 ,although 2 performances were poor, so no excuses, if this team is to escape relegation or the playoff ,they must go on a run now, I given up hope of decent football, just results will have to do .

Nothing much to add to Socks` post. A poor game, we were lucky to win but were due some good fortune.

McCann should get a run as centre forward, he was poor first half but so were most of the team and he has shown a bit of form in recent weeks, scored a few and threatened to get a few more.

Kane was poor, didn`t look match fit and needed to come off.

Chalmers having played quite well recently was poor, don`t understand why he wasn`t subbed for Clay.

KRH didn`t offer much today, but who else can play out there? Comrie (easily MOTM today) isn`t effective as a right midfielder/winger, O`Halloran is clearly totally out of favour and McPake doesn`t seem to want to try Copper there. Possibly Matty Todd could? On the other side, Ngweyna simply isn`t a left midfielder/winger either, just doesn`t have the quality, as a left back he is fine. He gets into plenty of good positions, but all he can do is hit a crap shot, cross or dribble into defenders - but again, there are no other options, Otoo is no better out there.

Finally Matty Todd - why can`t he play a number 8? Surely he has the engine and physicality to play there, play him beside someone more defensive (Hamilton or Clay). Clay might be the best bet as with is greater experience he might be able to help him learn quicker the position.

I imagine not training for a few days with his style of play he would struggle. I thought he was struggling as the game went on. With a previous history of injury there is always the chance he would overstretch or pull a muscle. I thought it was the right decision to take him off as we will need him in the games ahead. Oddly when we made the change and McCann took a more central role we scored. It demonstrates that we have options up front it`s about being more clinical in front of goal.

McCann, KRH, Todd and Hamilton all slipped yesterday, not really a Dapo boots issue.

Seemed like it was that area of the pitch only too that was affecting the players.

Did seem to be the worst area, although there was quite the audible & collective `Ooooooooh` when McCann had a particularly nasty slip over by the Main Stand

Lewis McCan reminds me a bit in style of Mike Leonard. He is much better running on to balls directly towards goal and using his strength. His two goals recently have both been similar in that sense. Once you turn the defender and have them running backwards rather than facing the ball their options narrow. Once you beat one central defender going through the middle you have beaten the whole defence. That to me is where Lewis`s strength is and we should play to that at phases in the game.

If McCann scores regularly enough maybe fans will overlook the weaknesses in his game. Some fans were disappointed that Todorov was released because of his predatory instincts in the box yet he was pretty limited in general play and moves often broke down if he was involved in the build-up.
