People post opinions on his ability based on a knowledge of football that they don`t possess. It is realy entertaining sometimes trying to take in how inflated so many egos are on here.
No training, no qualifications, no experience. Just a wealth of wisdom based on unqualified opinion.
I often wonder how many of the most prolific of these believe they could do better given the chance. I mean in coaching or management.
I daren`t ask because I think I could do myself an injury laughing at some of the replies.
Think this probably covers everyone realistically and not just in sport. People have opinions, some stronger than others on politics, world affairs, medical, the weather and numerous other aspects of life.
All with no experience, qualifications or anything else
C'mon Ye Pars!

From what I`ve seen Archie Stevens could play on the left if the manager was considering an option there. It seems to be the case though that `football people` value McCann`s contribution more than the average fan does.
That`ll be the same football people who lost their jobs Eck ?

McCann will be fortunate to be given a contract extension and could probably argue with stats to back it up that mcpake shouldn`t have given him an extension either.

Parrot, what is the point of being a football fan if you don`t have opinions, misguided or otherwise, football is not the medical profession where we should listen a bit more to the experts.
We are all `experts`, that`s part of the joy. It`s a brutal business (which is also part of it) where heroes go to zeros fast.

The point is that football is a `zero sum game`. For every winner there`s a loser, no matter how well-qualified they are. Punters on the other hand can voice an opinion knowing their views and theories will never be tested in practice. I think it gives us a false impression of our capabilities and that`s just reinforced when we see someone we`ve criticised getting the sack.

Im not opposed to it at all. You are perfectly right.
It is important, though, to remind ourselves of our limitations when we set about destroying young men with noble aspirations.
Some folk attempt that with no thought of the potential consequences.
It is also a likely fact, which some may venture to dispute, that if any one of us was to take charge of a team at this level, or even the seaside level, that team would be relegated.

Total appearances 169
Goals 28
assist 14
Yellow cards 20
With a goal to game ratio of 9.8
104 games in the championship and only scoring in 11 of them shows the struggle at this level.
And to be honest probably our biggest problem this season has been converting chances. Wotherspoon had a brilliant chance yesterday and put it straight at the Keeper. We need to be more unforgiving when a chance is offered our way especially now where every point is important.

So what`s the difference between someone commenting on a player`s ability and you mocking their opinion?
Do you remind yourself of your limitations when you act the mother superior?
I don`t wanna go down like disco.

One difference is that anyone who is `mocked` on here has the chance to reply in person, which isn`t really the case for players or other club employees.

They are meant to respond to it on the pitch…..

I`m not sure `mockery` is a great motivator.

We don’t all wear our black and white tinted glasses and think every player is perfect and playing the best they can.
If that was the case we wouldn’t be in the position we are in.
We as fans are entitled to give our opinion on players performances and in most cases the majority agree and all say the same thing, it’s only a select few who appear to disagree with everything that appears ‘negative’.
If players read this forum, which I doubt they do, then any critique would surely be used in a way to prove them wrong so to speak and make sure your next performance is better.

Think the problem is more around knowing when something is not working and it’s not going to work to the level required.
Do you need to be an football expert to know that for example McCann is going to regularly play to a good championship level if for the last 5-6 seasons of evidence suggests this is not going to be the case?
I get a lot on here are hoping he’s going to come good as a youth product and local boy who has everything physically require to make it but in the end you need more and some things are evidently hard to teach.
End of the day players move on and might improve and might not, if they are doing it for you on the pitch managers make a judgement call. Tidser will have more options than previous managers so won’t be reliant on players who have consistent struggled to make any impact at this level.

I can`t make any sense out of that. It`s not even worth the response.

Mullen and Stevens (second half) were stand outs today.
McCann I hate it say looks absolutely clueless on the left, never got close to the right back at all in the first half, he was coming to far in and leaving him too much space.
Change of shape midway through the first alf seemed to suit us and I felt we were the better team, especially in the second half.
Very good performance today and hopefully holds us in good stead heading into the next 3 crucial matches against QP, Hamilton and Morton.
We must have been at different games as I saw McCann as one of our better players especially in the first half. He was busy throughout the game and subject to number of heavy challenges from a very physical team.
