121. Author: rikaka Date: Tue 24th Feb 2026. 22:54 We competed. Our tempo was better and the players showed some fight to get level twice. We lack ideas, creativity and pace going forward. We need to find a style of play that suits what we have but creates more chances. We really need to keep the tempo up from Saturday, it`s the kind of game where we drop it to walking football and get punished. Post Edited (Tue 24 Feb 22:55) Reply

123. Author: Socks Date: Tue 24th Feb 2026. 23:09 That`s a decent enough point in the end. There wasn`t much in the game but in the spells where the scores were level, Partick looked a lot more threatening than we did. It`s a hard balance to find, but they`d probably have won if they hadn`t completely stopped playing in attack when they had the lead. First half hour was really poor but we were a lot better after the change of shape at that point. With them having Chalmers and Fitzpatrick pushed really far up and playing pretty much as wide forwards while Watt dropped often deep in the middle, it was tough to make it work with 3 at the back. In some games you can argue about the best shape but in this one it was absolutely necessary to change to a back 4 and thankfully we did. For a lot of the game, Partick seemed to have more intensity to their play than we did. Quite a lot of our players weren`t really on their game tonight with far too many basic mistakes allover the pitch. However, at least Todd and Morrison were much better after the change of shape as the team started to gain a basic coherence at that point. I`ve said it many times in recent years but we could often do with just doing the basics well. If the simple ball up the line is on, just play it sometimes. You don`t need to fanny about, take the extra touch and slow it down or look for something more fancy. Especially in a game when you`re struggling on the ball as both full-backs were tonight. Despite the intention to fanny about with the free kick at the end, thankfully there was no short option and it did go in the box, leading to the equaliser. Our ball in the box is usually way below poor but tonight this led to goals. Both came from fairly poor crosses but thankfully we got a bit of luck with breaks of the ball on both. I don`t feel the joy that came after the late equaliser against St Johnstone, but it`s a relief to get something and end the run of losses. Hopefully helps everyone feel a bit better going into the coming games. Reply
124. Author: neils Date: Tue 24th Feb 2026. 23:21 Agreed. There were plenty times when we were already in a strong position, only to play backwards. Then we have to start again. Gilmour today didn`t want to play the ball forwards at all, could be a confidence thing, but it puts us in a worse position as we then have 11 opposition players in front to beat. Reply
125. Author: Buster_Brown Date: Tue 24th Feb 2026. 23:22 I’ll take the point, I would have bitten your hand off for it before Kick Off, but I found us a hard watch once again. All too often we are slow and predictable. We’re not set up to do anything creatively. Patrick’s second goal was just a long ball over the top for Samuel to get onto….we could do the same with Morrison but we don’t. When do we ever counter? When do we ever play balls through the channels for people to run onto?? When do we move it quickly to cut teams open? We don’t. We play slow horseshoe football and we live off errors or set play. I have said that for a while now and tonight was no different. Sure, we were full off huff and puff and despite a few players being off it tonight, we didn’t lack effort and in the first 10-15 mins of the Second Half, we really pinned Partick back and they were struggling to get out, but again we created nothing. Delighted for Abdualai to be given MOTM, said it before but I just love watching the big fella play with a big smile on his face. Watt’s yellow card straight from kick off in the Second Half, just showed how frustrated he was by not getting anything off him. Partick break with intensity and directness, I like that and I wish we were more like that. Once again, Chalmers scores a cracking strike, but we did ourselves no favours at times. Anyway, on to Saturday. I’ll take tonight, delighted with the point, but really think we need to be more creative and a bit less predictable, than playing crab football. I was getting frustrated at the ball being played back to the halfway line but if there’s no one in a good position up front what can he do. We need to get into better positions to allow players like Gilmour to get the ball up. ”Buffy’s Buns are the finest in Fife”, J. Spence 2019” Reply

Author: Never10yairds Date: Tue 24th Feb 2026. 23:35 Yeah I’d agree Buster, we are a tough watch, I can’t stand this horseshoe of death boring football, I’d grin and bare it if it had us top of the league but when the results aren’t great it’s horrible. Much prefer direct attacking football. Reply |
128. Author: Bertie Paton Date: Tue 24th Feb 2026. 23:51 ``I can’t stand this horseshoe of death boring football`` The 3 at the back formation always results in this. Your wide attacking threats start from half way in their own half to create chances for the forwards. It`s just the same set-up as McPake, but Lennon has had a fair few quid more to spend on wages and fees. Before the eternally offended start. I`m not saying get rid but certainly want to see more progress than we have right now. Can`t fault the fight but not near enough quality or cohesion about the team for the investment we`ve had. Author: twin par Date: Wed 25th Feb 2026. 02:05 I am fed up with us losing goals, with teams doing an over the top pass.We seem to get caught all the time,a guy makes a long pass, over our right hand side, and can’t deal with it.We have defenders that don’t track them or are out paced. It is so infuriating! Having said that, think the guys did brilliantly coming back, and never gave up,so well done over all. Post Edited (Wed 25 Feb 02:19) Reply

Similarly, going on a losing run saps team and individual confidence. Players can go out fearing defeat. They concede the first goal and their collective heads go down..... ![]() Not your average Sunday League player. Reply |
133. Author: Sacktheref69 Date: Wed 25th Feb 2026. 07:15 Better performance last night against a Thistle side who really surprised me with their game plan. I expected them to fly out of the traps but, if anything, we probably edged the opening 10 minutes. I can’t remember either keeper making any saves of note. We will do well to keep hold of Abdulai in the summer as he’s some presence and looks a solid 7 most games. I thought we did well to contain a team who are top of the form table over the last six games to very little. There are still the odd mistakes here and there, but that’s to be expected from a team going through the run we are. JCM had another shocker again last night. His passing under no pressure was abysmal and he just looks lost out there. Whether that’s the captaincy or just struggling for form, he’s been off it for a while. I’d like to see the second goal again. I wonder if Cooper saw something at the back post for him to stop his original run up and go again? He can put a good ball into the box and should be starting for me. Overall, a good result that I would have taken before a ball was kicked. Hopefully, scoring two and limiting the form team in the league who, alongside Arbroath, are the highest scoring teams over the last six games, could maybe be the turning point in the run we’re on. We go again on Saturday with another massive game. Hopefully, we can build on this and try to grab a wee run of our own. This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it. Reply
134. Author: Indiapar1 Date: Wed 25th Feb 2026. 07:37 Positives were tgat we stood up better for the majority of the game. We scored two goals. We scored in the last 10 minutes so we persisted and never gave up. We have stopped the rot of losing games. Negatives, PT didnt have to work hard for their goals. We did. Not getting the ball in tge box enough when there was an option to do so. We didnt turn their defence enough. Forwards need to anticipate a bit more to get on the end of the crosses that flashed across goal. We need to score first. PT exploited the space behind the wing back s G Wardrope Reply
135. Author: BlackLight Date: Wed 25th Feb 2026. 08:18 One of the things that makes the back 3 work for me is when a couple of the defensive 3 are able to break forwards. JCM can do it and Abdulai did it at least once. John Tod was also great at that. It feels like we were more adventurous in possession back in Sep/Oct when things seemed to be clicking. We`ve gone backwards as a team since then, despite bringing in a couple more players. Hopefully Oxborough is the answer to our goal keeping fragility, at least until the end of the season. I still like Ngwenya, JCM and Abdulai as a back three. Turley and Gilmour seem to be working well together in the middle of midfield. Much as a I love Amade, I think those guys need to start matches where we`re going to need to battle a bit. I`d start Fraser and Kearney out wide, using Matty Todd/Morrison as cover when/if one of them is off form (like Fraser at the moment). Then take your pick for the others. Matty Todd/Morrison playing behind any two from Cooper/Kane/Thomas and Tod. Reply
136. Author: parsmad68 Date: Wed 25th Feb 2026. 08:42 Thistle use all of their dark arts to get results. The off the ball handling of Amade for me was verging on a red, not a yellow, but went unseen and unpunished. I genuinely don’t know what the stand side linesman was watching. I understand the linesman and referee were trying to get up to speed. The referee on handling free kicks was hopeless. He continually slowed the kick so he could be in position, meaning that the Thistle defence could organise themselves. This happened at least twice when Ashcroft was out of position. Also on Ashcroft, why when he is burst and running back and out of position did we not try to punish them more on crosses or even play to get beyond him. He is only strong when facing the play. Get beyond him and he crumbles. Overall, I am happy with the point and the effort but execution and decision making needs to be improved. On to Saturday. Reply
137. Author: Parfect69 Date: Wed 25th Feb 2026. 09:20 I thought the ref was one of the better ones we’ve had this season. Albeit the bar is very low. I thought at the time it was a foul on Morrison in the build up to their goal. All in all a good point. Reply
138. Author: Kozmano1 Date: Wed 25th Feb 2026. 09:24 I don’t get why Mullen is captain either. Not verbal communication to players whatsoever. We got no one vocal in that team. At least Benny has that? Reply
139. Author: Indiapar1 Date: Wed 25th Feb 2026. 09:24 parsmad68, Wed 25 Feb 08:42 Yep we said the same- dont understand why we didnt exploit Ashcrofts weaknesses more. There were a few occasions where there was enough space between the keeper and their defence where we could have lifted the ball over him and had forwards running into the space. He is quite slow and as you say crimbles when put under pressure as he doesnt have the pace to recover. Too msny times we looked to play balls to feet in forward positions where we could have knocked it into space for players to run on to and get behind them G Wardrope Reply
140. Author: Angus_W Date: Wed 25th Feb 2026. 13:35 Last night was not pretty to watch at times. It was a backs to the wall performance. What I did see was a team that refused to capitulate to a man. They gave it everything & got something from the game. We need to build on this for Saturday. ‘Hello my name is Jefferson - I’m happy to be here let’s go!’ Reply
