Yeah, but it won`t be on that performance.

And even then, we are near, despite tonight`s performance.

In the unlikely event that we go up, it won`t be that team that starts the first game of next season.

We have a lot of players out of contract and in the event of promotion we have ample opportunities to improve the squad.

Of course we are! If we went up this season - that team tonight would have major changes in its starting lineup! Even as it stands now we are due around £1m in prizes that will go a long way to building a strong premiership side! Even if we come down straight away the parachute payment and prize money for finishing last far outweighs the amount for staying down and going up as champions! That itself would give us a good grounding to go up and stay up the following season!

So to say we aren’t ready is just shortsighted.

Wins over Arbroath, Partick Thistle and whoever ends up second bottom of SPL.

I wouldn’t bet on that.

How about in the 3 performances against actual premiership sides in the last few months?

We`re better against teams that want to play football.

Arbroath are hammer throwers and didn`t really do much up front. It`s a team we`re needing learn how to combat their style better. I confident we`ll do the job second leg. We have more quality than them.

Whatever happens it`s still been an excellent season.

Getting into the playoffs is a great effort, but getting to the cup final is something else. I`m thrilled.

Of course it will be tough for us to win the playoffs and the volume of games goes against us, but we were an easy 4th and we can also go up.

They can throw hammers but the can play too and outplayed us for most of the second half. We were very poor second half.

First half we were good and should have been further ahead.

Dunno why we fell out of it so badly but giving the ball away about twenty times certainly did not help.

Very tough game up in Arbroath awaits…

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

What chances did they have? How many times did Ox save us? I can think of a goal and two great saves they had to deal with.

I would. We are better than today.

Anyhoo. Why do folk not understand that if we do go up we will build a much stronger team? Do they think we will start the new season with the same squad?
Bizzaar!

It doesn`t take long for negativity to creep back into some fans` minds, does it? A lot of folk seemed to think tonight`s game would be a walk in the park which was surprising considering our respective League positions.

NL said after last Friday`s game that he didn`t think home advantage would be crucial in the play-offs so this Friday`s game will probably be as close as tonight`s was. Our away record is pretty much the same as our home record (26 points at home and 25 away) so we still have a chance.

Ridiculous thread, played three PL teams this season and haven’t conceded a goal and judging a team put together on a Championship budget and not one built on PL finances is a ultimately not a fair or relevant comparison.

“played three PL teams this season and haven’t conceded a goal”

But in that same sense we’ve played Patrick 4 times this season and looked no where near as good as them I said it since we got near the play offs it’s not second bottom of the prem I’m worried about it’s Patrick

Got to remember we’re lacking attacking options just now. Kane the only real experienced striker still fit and Tod and morisson getting a game by default as only really cooper to challenge them.

If we get through on Friday I can’t see us getting past Partick, they were miles away from us in the league (15 points). Last season our points tally would not have got into the playoffs!

What last night showed us was even with our strongest 11 were a decent top half championship side but no more than that. Next season with some more quality brought in that’s a step up from who is leaving and hopefully a bit more steel and consistency from the youngsters in the team and we’ll hopefully be closer to the top.

The post below replying to me is by one of .nets finest champions of mediocrity!

I`m pretty sure Tod would be a starter in any team NL picked regardless of who else was available. It would be bizarre if he wasn`t considering the number of goals and assists he has had this season.
