"Got to remember we’re lacking attacking options just now. Kane the only real experienced striker still fit and Tod and morisson getting a game by default as only really cooper to challenge them."

Tod is there because he is playing well - unlike Morrison.

I thought the game last night was as expected. In terms of effort, committment and organisation Arbroath probably deserved something from the game, but its about putting the ball in the net. They looked physically stronger than us and they pressed and closed us down.2nd half they won most second balls. We didnt play well, but you can only play as well as the other team lets you. Friday will be a different game. They have to come out and score 2 goals. A win is important but we could have done with a second. Still all to play for.

I hate to pick at my mates posts but saying Tod is only being picked by default is nonsense

He`s rightly being recognised as one of the best young players in Scotland by pundits and the national teams management.

We`re lucky to have him.

I`m pretty sure Tod would be a starter in any team NL picked regardless of who else was available. It would be bizarre if he wasn`t considering the number of goals and assists he has had this season.

Andrew Tod is a quality player who hides under the radar in games but pounces at the right moments.
That’s a sign of a good player who knows the game.

Its how you imact the game as a forward player, so I would put Chris Kane in that category. He got the all important goal.

It`s pretty harsh to say that Tod and Morrison are getting a game by default. It suggests they don`t deserve to be playing when they definitely do.

Tod has had an exceptional season and despite only joining in January, Morrison is only one behind Chris Kane in league goals scored.

A better way of saying it might be to say that it would be good to have options on the bench at their level? Morrison worked hard last night (although I saw Lennon shouting at him to `get in the game` during the first half) but absolutely nothing seemed to come off for him. Players, particularly wider players, sometimes have games like that, it`s why you need 3 or 4 good ones.

It would be good to have a fresh option that could come in for either of them. If for example Olly Thomas was still here then I`m certain he would have started or been subbed on.

Tod got the BBC MOTM and was lauded by McFadden & Scott Brown. Seen countless posts on X from other Scottish fans desperate for their team to sign Tod. But he’s not good enough for the .net faithful 🤣

Tod is " only getting a game by default"- that just can`t be serious comment.

My Hibee relatives told me at that cup game that they’d be interested in Andy Tod. They (and me) think he’s the bees knees!

Tod literally set up the goal with good work then had two very decent efforts well saved by McAdams……..but aye, he shouldn’t be in the team 🤦🏻‍♂️

Love watching Tod. Something gallus about the way he plays. Great assist last night and stung the palms of the keeper a couple of times from long range.

Maybe need to clarify here as the usual folk jump to conclusions….but Tod and Morrison are playing as there’s really only cooper as an alternative as we don’t have anyone else and I’m not sure cooper is good enough as rarely trusted to start. Regardless of form these 2 are pretty much always starters, it wasn’t a go at either, it was more a point about lack of options to mix it up a bit.

Nice try, Berkey, but no cigar!

I could watch our goal all day long - Kane`s sublime dummy, Tod`s inch-perfect pass while falling over and a pin-point finish into the corner!

I get the point about the lack of options up front but wasn`t sure from your comment that you realise just how good a player Andy Tod is. If I was the Arbroath manager he would likely be the player I was most worried about on Friday night.

Andy Tod is far from the finished article, but when the crosses were as poor as some of them last night, I don’t know what people expect.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Both Matty Todd and Fraser were below their usual level in terms of crossing and influencing the game .

Deary me! Tod is widely recognised as one of Scotland`s outstanding young prospects, quite rightly too.

Almost all non Pars fans I know who have seen him for the first time mention him straight away.

It`s his gallus style, very rare, almost a throwback. A rare quality.

Back to the strikers....how many `we need another striker` comments do we need. Once again. Who? We`ve already signed up a whole load, it`s just that Rudden is injured, the others (the Sutherland`s, Young etc) are either miles off the standard or still to progress.

We have Tod, Kane and Cooper 3 quality players. Morrison, well he has scored a goal every 2 games .

There are a number of players who have never been in the position we are in now. Even Beme with his years in the game. The pressure on the players is very high, particularly the younger ones. Some such as A Todd and M Todd have a great expectation on their shoulders to score goals. Does the club engage a sports psychologist. If not, it strikes me there would be some benefit in this to better enable the players to deal with the anxiety that may come with the pressure and expectation.
