“But loads of the young lads are proper Pars fans and just want to create an atmosphere and have a day out with their pals.”

“Just want to create an atmosphere” with flares which they’ve been told continually are not allowed? How do you engage with some younger fans if they’re just going to ignore the official guidelines? The majority may agree but if the minority don’t then we find ourselves in situations like yesterday.

Doesn`t stop the club using the SNW with their flares on the socials though.

When you have a camera panning around the stadium for game footage for their social media channels it’s inevitable that fans doing something you’d not want to encourage or see will happen. Like fans sticking their middle fingers up at away fans, hearing certain chants and the flares. You make it sound as if the club focussed on the flares for social media likes which you already know is not true.

So we have "ultras" that don`t want to watch the team every week or contribute towards it financially in order to do so?

For a club our size that`s pretty surprising. It`s a shame to see it fall apart like this, having engaged young supporters is good for atmosphere and for the future of the club`s supporter base

I love people calling them ultras though as they can’t be any further from that ultras would go anywhere that the club goes they are actually just big game supporters

The young boys generally bring more of an atmosphere. They also generally misbehave more - no being funny but kind of par for the course with young boys.

Without them it’s quieter, with them there’s more trouble. We are trying to strike a balance. I’m less worried about yesterday but I’d much prefer them there for big games. It makes the overall experience more enjoyable.

To be fair it`s not cheap for young supporters to attend if they have to pay full price. What bugs me prior to the crackdown was the players celebrating in front of the North West as if these were the only real fans in the stadium.

They’re drawn to the noise and all that. I would be too so I don’t see a problem with it.

If I scored I’d rather run to the corner with everyone going mental rather at ground level rather than an empty corner cos the main stand is 4m up and it’s old men standing clapping.

That`s not fair or true. The applause from the Norrie or South will be massive. Because there are many true fans in those stands who enjoy their team scoring just as much as the more excitable fans in the North West. Passion is not just about shouting loud.

I specifically liked McClouds turn and applause to the centre of the NW as he can obviously hear the shouts of support and applause he was getting because he was chasing everything down and playing well.

I’d say it’s a focus point and not just for Dunfermline but the opposition as well.
NW has always been so going back to the terracing days and let’s face it, it’s where most of the singing comes from.

The best bit about this post is there are people now moaning about how the SNW kids act but were happy as Larry to have them shunted into the Norrie for the league cup games! The auld clique just proving again that they don’t have an actual opinion, just wait to see what one of them moan about and all pile on! Wallopers!!

Are you jealous the players celebrate goals in a different part of the stadium you sit in?

This isn`t just a Dunfermline issue. Its all over the country, trouble caused by mid to late teens most weeks at games.

When they are there, it undoubtedly adds to the atmosphere. To be fair, is any Pars fan leaving the house yesterday absolutely buzzing like they would be a Falkirk game, for Queens at home who we should and did run over the top of?

For what it`s worth, absolutely not condoning the idiots within that section of the support at Dunfermline or other clubs but it`s easier to get up for a bigger game.

C'mon Ye Pars!

Can`t really win. "Ultras" only create atmosphere when seemingly breaking the rules, but we don`t want people in the stadium who break rules.

Yeah and who can really complain about the atmosphere in the NW during Hibs and Aberdeen wins last season. They were very memorable.

Not at all. The players focus on the NW as the "passionate supporters" is a simplstic misreading of the passion that all the fans feel. Vocal or not. To ascribe value to people who shout the loudest is misguided.

Verily, a North-West stand that be full unto the rafters and roaring like the very bowels of the earth is a different kettle of fish entirely from the hot wind that doth bloweth forth from the Main Stand.

Think not that I question the passion of any soul that doth bleed for this noble club; nay, their devotion is not mine to dispute.

I speak only thus: when the North-West be filled to bursting, and its multitude doth thunder forth as one mighty host, the players upon the field shall surely hear it. Such a roar doth seize the blood, stir the heart, and command the attention of those who wage battle upon the pitch.

Let the Main Stand bloweth its hot air as it may; give me a North-West that is full, furious, and fucking bouncing — for therein lieth the sound that shall reach the players.
