It’s Tom Hunter who’s paying for it and certainly no nationalist.
I’m sure his motives though are genuine as he did respect Alex Salmond as a guy just believing in his country becoming independent but a man who wasn’t afraid to make friends on the other side of the table too.

Happy to accept the "Sir" title is a clue....but as a true Scot, he stood up to the plate.

Man enough to put personal beliefs aside.

Imagine if the UK 🇬🇧 state had brought him home with his coffin draped in the butchers apron..

Alex Salmond, Donald Dewar, Robin Cook, John Smith, Charles Kennedy...

What is it about the best modern-day Scottish politicians that makes them prone to die early?

My theory is that they are so passionate about their cause, they put their own wellbeing in the back burner

The Westminster lifestyle of subsidised food and drink late into the night probably contributes

Comments from everyone`s favourite blog

“Alba Party general secretary Christopher McEleny said: “Lots of private individuals with means approached offering to help.
“Out of respect I won’t name them all but one I will mention is Loganair.
“They contacted us to say they were standing ready with a flight and would fully staff it and fly over and said as a Scottish airline they would feel privileged to do that.

The silence from the SNP when Alex was acquitted was a real eye opener for me.
Joanna Cherry was about the only MP who stood by him as she saw the injustice as a QC herself.
So many of her colleagues were too scared to say anything to protect themselves.

I don’t think Alex may have been agreeable to all who met him as he admitted himself but he was the finest politician our country produced not only in power but I’d say in 30 years.
He was always ‘on the ball’

I`ve always wondered exactly what was discussed at that lunch between Salmond and Sturgeon just when these allegations were first made.
