Then, lo and behold, someone gives him Ā£5 million and he agrees to be an MP, for a term of 5 years. Probably just a coincidence though, right? Either way, I think there needs to be a proper inquiry into his and his various parties` funding. The Grenfell tower disaster has basically made it more difficult for small businesses to get involved with fire stopping/fire rated doors/screens/manufacture of fire rated products etc but how many blocks of flats have had their inspections and surveys done yet? Author: LochgellyAlbert Date: Sat 18th Jul 2026. 15:26 High rises were inspected annually when I was in the Fire Service, was done along with the testing of high risers (water mains) The only one to be publicly blamed for Grenfell was the Chief Fire Officer of London Fire Brigade! Iām sure they still do fire safety checks on high rise flats etc. There was a cladding remediation programme set up post the Grenfell disaster. Given the number of buildings itās a long process but in Scotland weāve been terrible at it. By late 2025 only 16 had been completed. Thats the assessments not the remediation work that they require. All 16 require remediation work. The Scottish Government received an extra Ā£97million from Westminster to help fund the scheme through Barnett consequentials in 2021-22 but it wasnāt ring-fenced funding or anything like that. It was just extra funding received through the Barnett formula. COYP Reply |
