No hint in NL`s preview of the Ross Co match that we`re about to sign a striker. He`s hoping Chris Kane will be available. There is mention elsewhere that we`re looking to sign another CB though, despite Ngwenya`s emergence in that position and his satisfaction with his contribution. John Tod being out for 6-10 weeks may have triggered the need for further cover.

There has been reports, I think from IB, that we were looking at the possibility of strengthening the forward areas….was the quote that I remember.

I think strengthening CB is a must, for a team that predominantly play 3 at the back, then we are short in quality there when injuries kick in. Ngwema has been excellent in the last 2 games…but surely the question remains, can he sustain it? I think Otoo has looked well off it and canny be relied on as a long term option, and quite simply isn’t a CB. Have the likes of Fisher done enough….you have to suspect not for a LB like Ngwema to jump ahead of him in the pecking order.

If this mystery striker has been hanging about for a few months, then I`m sure a bit more info would been picked up on him by now. Seems very little known for something that`s been in the pipelines for months. I think it may well be nonsense.

Hope I’m wrong but I have suspected the same thing for some time now. Time will tell.

I have no doubt we are trying to sign a striker but was just pointing out that nothing NL said suggested that such a signing was imminent.

https://dafc.co.uk/manager-on-january-plans-and-stewart-recall-possibility/

strikers talked about there, 3rd December.

"I`m not surprised he`s going for another CB. Tod injury fairly long term, Otoo looks way out of sorts and can`t be trusted there and I think we might see Fisher see out the remainder of his contract elsewhere."

agree although would need two defenders in that case, one would ideally a right back who could play at centre half or vice versa. if the priority is a left sided centre half, Aaron Donnelly at Dundee immediately comes to mind.

We have to be after a striker with losing Barney. Would be utter madness if that wasn’t a priority.

A centre half and a centre mid in the Gilmour mould would also be favourable Id say.

I don’t get the belief that Lennon would be at odds about what to do with JCM if he did sign a pre contract elsewhere. The guys not going to down tools the minute the deal is penned. He still has a lot to prove to reach his full potential.

Kane can`t be trusted to last any sort of time, that has been obvious since he got here. The worry we have is Barney leaving only leaves us with Andy Tod as a goal threat. After him it`s Rudden with 2 goals. We know about Rudden and the injury, but nobody really steps up if Andy Tod hits a dry patch.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

I do as well, but we could still do with another striker in case one of Rudden or Tod gets injured. It`s always good to have competition in that area of the park.

You have to realise Barney was only signed as a cover for Zak who was injured.
Zak is back fully fit so we don’t need a replacement.

I think if we bring players in, we have to be looking at a top four finish.

I think most of us know Barney was brought in for cover for Rudden ! but most of us would like cover here in the attacking area as we cannot Guarantee that Kane will be fit for any games ! Another striker gives us that cover for any scenario , plus keeps everyone on their toes
We all know over the last 2 years Kane spends more time on the sidelines with injury so i have re-worded to state the obvious just in case folk are confused . com with what I was meaning with my post , LOL

We’ve known for two years that Kane is no guarantee to be fit.

I’d still like another creative forward/winger type player, I know it’s their first season at this level but McLeod and Jefferson have struggled a bit to make an impact and it takes the pressure off them as at the moment 1 has to play.

We almost brought in that striker from Italy and we already had rudden by then so we’ll defo have a striker as top priority. Can’t expect andy Tod to play every game and be able to make an impact.

I have faith we’ll do some decent business, lots of lessons learned from last Jan anyway!

I predict 4 in 4 out for us in January.

CB, LB(cover), AM ( creative) and a ST .

Fisher, Otoo away and MacLeod and Bray on loan.

I’d keep MacLeod, he’s a good finisher and a good option to have on the bench.

Sadly Otoo hasn`t worked out this season, he was a standout when he joined, but I think our past huge injury list and Ewan having to fill in multiple positions has worked against him, not really making any his own, I`ve said before he owes us nothing, and possibly a move might be in his own interests -a pity, this is a player I liked a lot

Fisher looked great, but then went really off the boil, it`s not happening here I think.Surely better to cut, and he can find his level and build his career/life.

Bray has struggled to make this level, I think he`s on a longer contract? If that the case a loan would be good, he needs games.

MacLeod I think isn`t far off, NL will know better what do there- he`s looked really good, then nothing, I guess that`s not unusual for younger guys.

MacLeod is a solid player, and I don’t think he’s been much worse than what Cáceres has offered so far. My concern with Cáceres is that he may have bought into the early hype and feels he’s too good for this level. Unfortunately, his performances haven’t shown any real evidence that he’s above it.
MacLeod is still young and has a lot to learn, but his attitude seems good. Hopefully we can see him kick on if called upon.

I dont think caceres has bought into the hype, i just think hes having trouble adjusting, and i feel sympathy, when i had a new job in greece for a year, i really struggled so i do sympathize with him, if it doesnt work out so be it, but its clear theres a really good player in there
