Hibs didn`t play well, but we deserve a lot of credit for how tenacious and aggressive we were. The front 3 set the tone in the first half, none were great on the ball but they pressed brilliantly and the midfield and defence were immediately snapping at Hibs players as soon as it went forward.

I think the game suited Tash as he played well. We didn`t give them time on the ball so forced them into errors. I would look at it more tgat we played well rather than they didn`t. I wouldn`t take away from the team how good, balanced and mature the performance was. Our back three and Deniz were outstanding today. Robbie Fraser is a real prospect, Tash never gave the ball away, and Gilmour was his usual giant self in midfield. Up front was always going to be tough, but we pressed, created chances, and that took pressure off by chasing down and making them play. A good honest performance that the players should take confidence from and give them the self belief that they can produce at that level. I thought we were the better side today. Simply that. The Hibs performance was poor due to our performance.

I think Rudden showed again just how effective he is at the "ugly" side of the game. Not pretty, but absolutely vital. Reminded me a lot of Michael Moffat, constant harrying, relentless work rate, never gives defenders a second’s peace. That pressure alone forces mistakes and creates openings for others. Proper team player stuff, often goes unnoticed but can make a big difference.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

What a shift from Abdulai today though, absolutely outstanding. Same for the entire back line actually, they were solid.

Yep. My MoTM.

Aye big Norrie would be looking down on that performance today with an approving smile.

MOTM

Deniz, also Abdullai, also JCM, also Kieran.

Also Robbie Fraser and Gilmour was immense and TOB had his best game for us and Matty Todd played well at right back (and striker) and AJT ran his socks off (after a patchy first half) and Zac was defending around the box and Thomas looked solid and Morrison was a handful when he came on and it was great to have Kearney back and Amade didn`t put a foot wrong.

Other than that we were a bit average.

I love that guy`s videos. He really does his homework and treats everyone he talks to with such respect.

Good performance against a competitive SPL team and so glad to be in the next round, been a while since we’ve had a decent cup run.

Trying to stay grounded, defensively we were really on it, Abdullai, JCM, Ngwenya and Fraser were excellent - we do need to revisit that Bowie chance, looked like two going for the same ball but we all know more times than not that’s a goal. Great save from Deniz but Bowie will know he should’ve put that away - the unnecessary additional touch allowed us to get there.

I thought Matty Todd’s distribution first half was really poor from set pieces - ironically that improved second half and led to the goal but that needs more work.

I thought Andy Tod was poor and has been for a wee while. He looked very lightweight today, lost the ball a number of times and not sure how he missed what was essentially a tap in. It just highlighted he still has a lot of development required. I do think we need another striker so if rumours are true about Oli Shaw that would be great if it could be pulled off.

Mehmet did really well, obviously the Bowie save was great and he looked a little bit more assertive controlling his box. Most of the saves were comfortable, only got frustrated once when he didn’t come out to collect a ball and his distribution was a bit hit and miss.

A lot of fans were disappointed when Rudden signed but overall yet to see the reason why - thought he played well.

Olly Thomas looked good albeit far too early to properly assess after only one game.

Morrison also the same for the short period he was on.

We were a bit tame with efforts on goal and obviously some fortune with the goal itself.

But look really happy with the result and delighted for the boys - it does show we’re making good progress but I still do think there is some way to go.

Results like yesterday can have a big impact rest of the season so let’s hope it does and we secure that playoff spot.

A great performance from the players and the management team yesterday. Our boys wanted it more, and it showed. Everyone stepped up to the plate. No failures, some players were absolutely outstanding and others merely excellent. 😁

Hibs are a very decent side, but they weren`t good enough on the day. Their manager summed it up very honestly in his post-match interview.

If we can replicate this form consistently, we`re in with a good chance of making the play offs and see where that takes us.

Defeated Hibs 1-0 at Easter Road, November 2011, Austin McCann with a 3rd minute winner.

Stats show that we had 24 free kicks against us.
Hibs players were conning the ref, slightest touch
and they were falling down. The ref was so weak
at least 16 of these free kicks should never have
been awarded

I prefer to think of it as third time in a row we`ve knocked them out the cup.

I am always accused of being dour!

Says a lot for our young squad given how well Hibs are going just now.

Interesting how opinions differ.

I thought McLean performed well, a lot of routinely clumsy fouls correctly penalised.
