These kids are thankfully in the minority but the disruption they cause is incredible. It doesn`t help when grown adults sit on Facebook giving it all "it`s just boys being boys". Author: TAFKA_Super_Petrie Date: Wed 16th Apr 2025. 10:16 This is maybe a generalisation but i get the feel everything we did (speaking as someone in their 40s) seems to have been accelerated 2-3 years earlier down the line with this generation. We did have bams, wrong uns and all the rest but where as you`d maybe hear about folk dabbling with a bit of weed or drinking at 15 it`s now a fair bit younger. Even in terms of my daughter growing up and being aware of things, girls seems to be actively conscious of things like beauty products and makeup a lot earlier than when i was younger and thus looking a lot older from an early age (dance classes endorsing spray tans, eye lashes and full faces of makeup to U10`s doesn`t help but that`s another story). I think the fact there is pretty much unfiltered access to content online - avdertising included - on tap 24/7 that has made this shift. Kids are much more aware of things we weren`t and to a point desensitized to a lot of things long before they have the maturity or emotional intelligence to properly deal with it. I remember someone at high school getting the Jolly Rodger Anarchist Cookbook and it was huge deal. | 63. Author: Alter Ego Date: Wed 16th Apr 2025. 11:11 Social Media is the biggest problem Imo. Looking at all these stupid videos on Tiktok thinking thats how normal folk live their lives. I am so glad when I was in my teens we only had the black brick nokias and you had to go out and meet your mates. Sure enough our group were drinking/smoking at 15/16 but never caused any bother starting fires or fighting etc. Just had good banter. I suppose the rules for drinking were shall we say more relaxed where you could get into Jiggies/life and the ballroom with a fake ID but you just stuck with your mates and had a laugh. I just don`t get the teens nowadays as there is no respect and I`m not saying all but the way they talk to adults is an eye opener sometimes. If I talked to my parents that way I got a fly swat rattled of my leg but just the glare from my old maw would have been enough most of the time to shut up! Its different now but its getting worse. Children and even some adults are being conned into thinking they need to buy certain things and go certain places to be "successful". You rarely see an influencer posting how utterly crap a day they`ve had (unless it`s followed by "so I booked a spa weekend"). It`s fake, fake, fake. Everything is an "experience" now. People can`t just go and do things. They try and make everything into something big then probably feel a bit disappointed afterwards, but don`t share that bit. Every experience is "amazing" even when it`s something bang average like going to a fast food place for a burger. Reply |

Author: Back_oh_the_net Date: Fri 18th Apr 2025. 21:50 I’m 37 we lit fires when we were 15-16 but it was never malicious fire raising we lit them up the woods on a Friday night and sat round them with our bevy and we were always savy enough to never let it get out of control and always had a means of putting it out but with these wee gits they seem hell bent on destroying everything in said fires path But until there is actually a proper deterrent to stop them for doing it then it will keep happening Reply |

We`d make wee fires up the woods but they`d be made from wood gathered around the place rather than from ripping branches off trees or from melting bins. We weren`t running around screaming or causing people bother as we`d pick areas well away from paths. I think the key difference now is mobility and social media. We didn`t really have the ability to film and share our escapades and I`m sure many were exaggerated on a Monday morning in school. We also stuck to the area we lived in as we weren`t bussing it around Fife or beyond. Furthest we`d go would be a bus to Edinburgh for the day. I`m not necessarily saying so away with free bus passes but this does seem to be a factor in the increase in antisocial behaviour. Saying that, the main factor seems to simply be disinterested parents. Some kids will be notorious regardless of how they`ve been raised but so many kids nowadays have zero consciousness of the impact of their behaviour. I`m all for "let them be" but when you`ve got nonsense like 4 kids being hospitalised in Kinghorn and 8 hour stake-outs for a kid on a school roof it feels like this goes beyond childhood antics. | 77. Author: jake89 Date: Sat 10th May 2025. 09:07 There`s a local guy who keeps appearing on my TikTok. I won`t say his username as I don`t want others to be exposed to him. Recently discovered he also posts on Facebook under the same username and he appears to be a classic Reform-er - everything in the UK is broken and it`s all Labour/The SNP/Woke people`s fault, but never any answers in how to resolve the issues. On the kids, I`ll always say they should be picked up, put in a cell and then left there until their parent/guardian comes for them. It won`t take long before they get bored. Reply |

All the troublemakers of 16-20 odd years ago grow up,have kids all over the shop and either encourage their bad behaviour, don`t care about it or abuse them in some way. That`s obviously not the only reason though. There will be kids who have brought up well but are still bad eggs. I don`t think there is a solution except maybe build more jails and juvenile detention centres. Get as much of them locked away as possible. Justice is so unbelievably lax though that the kids/young adults look solemn in their court appearances and blame their upbringing or peer pressure etc etc and get a slap on the wrists. More police might help,but let`s be honest,they are useless and the good ones have their hands tied by nanny state laws. I went to primary school the year after teachers were banned from hitting students. I`ve witnessed each generation since then get worse and worse since then. I`m not suggesting bringing it back as all that would do is give vindictive teachers a chance to be more vindictive than they already are. I can only see one solution and that`s a complete extermination of the planet. We are infinitely worse than Dinosaurs. This planet needs a giant meteor more than Trump needs a sane and rational brain. Pars fan. Magpies fan. Mens tennis fan. Alternative rock fan. Not a fan of much else. Reply |
| 80. Author: jake89 Date: Wed 21st May 2025. 18:27 There`s got to be some irony that kids who are no longer hit are more violent than those who were. The events yesterday show how messed up the youth of today are. Older boy smashing a younger girl in the face with a key in his hand as a weapon while other kids filmed it (and then got themselves suspended because they were thick enough to share it!). The boy is already known to the authorities and school for various other attacks he`s committed yet nothing has been done. In days gone by he would enjoy a trip to Polmont but that`s no longer an option for all but the most serious cases. Unfortunately, we`re now a few generations in with thick as mince parents but it`s not always the thick ones. Some kids are seriously messed up for whatever reason and there`s almost no support out there. Try and get a CAMHS referral and be prepared to wait months, if not years. Reply |
