| 18. Author: hurricane_jimmy Date: Wed 23rd Sep 2026. 19:17 The thing he`ll find in Denmark is that they have, historically, been more generous to migrants than the UK. In the last few years though, they have seriously tightened up their regulations and made it harder to obtain citizenship. I naturalized as a Swedish citizen in 2021 and, at that time, there was no civics or language test which I think was absolutely nuts. Now, thankfully, Sweden has tightened up and doing the same. The major difference between Sweden and Denmark is mentality. Swedes have had peace for 200 years, while the Danes have known conflict and have that bit of nationalism, which I would say is a good thing. Personally, I do think we (Scotland and Sweden) should have a tiered immigration system that flavours countries like US, Canada, NZ, Australia, Japan, Taiwan and Korea. Indians, Kenyans, Filipinos and Latin Americans generally will also contribute positively as migrants and not demand that laws are changed. The problem with immigration is those that value their "God" above the law of the land and, while it can be said for Christianity and Judaism, the big problem is Islam. And anyone who denies that Islam is political needs their head examined to be frank. That said, it is not quite that simple, Iranians and Iraqis integrated quite well in Sweden in my experience, but Moroccans, Algerians, Libyans, Tunisians, Somalis were scroungers and will contribute nothing. That was my experience working in the Swedish public sector. Despite what many will try to claim, not all immigration is equal and we should be excluding groups who have caused problems. Reply |

Author: Luxembourg Par Date: Wed 23rd Sep 2026. 20:57 hurricane_jimmy, Wed 23 Sep 19:17 From my time working in Sweden, the difference I saw and heard was that the large immigration of Iranians in the late 70’s and early 80’s were the educated Persians escaping the Ayatollah death squads, not the uneducated feral masses they got recently. They arrived, integrated, worked, intermarried (some of the half Iranian/ half Swedish girls - wow!) with Swedes… It was this great experience that Sweden had that lead them to allow so many this time - but not all migrants are the same - a hard lesson that they are learning.
