`We shouldn`t be using privately owned hotels to essentially imprison people while we sort out processing. Suggestions like daft boats won`t work but surely there are spare government buildings that could be utilised for a lower cost?`

I think everyone is agreed on that, same with homelessness. The reason hotels are used at all is due to our failures to deal with national infrastructure investment. Indeed it`s been cut back with land/property being sold off.

It`s politicians being unable to look beyond the next election. I sell my house and start renting my bank balance looks healthier at first glance. But it`s a poor long term decision, and when you keep making short term decisions there`s severe long term consequences.

It`s all part of a big swizz isn`t it? The hotel companies are coining it in from these government contracts, to the tune of about 145 quid per night, per person. They are being paid well over the odds for what it`s costing them. These are shabby, old rooms that would need renovating before they could get them on booking com. The people that stay in these places aren`t living in the lap of luxury, I know someone that volunteers to help some of the people in settling in. They get food, but it`s rubbish quality and insufficient to feed a human properly, we are in no way getting value for money. It`s all a big money making exercise, taking our tax and putting it into private hands

It is perhaps germane to this discussion that it has been the policy of successive uniparty governments for at least the past 25 years that all small boat arrivals must be housed in at least 3-star hotels.

It is hardly surprising many will be housed in 4-star and above.

Ach well just keep on paying your taxes to a corrupt government that doesn’t look after the people of Britain…total joke now with the spending on illegal immigrants getting housed in hotels with free NHS etc.

More concerned about my taxes and welfare with the junkies walking down Cowdenbeath High Street causing scenes in the middle of the day than a few people fleeing war torn countries on a treacherous boat crossing from France tbh.

But you do you I suppose.

There could be many reasons why they would prefer England to France... For example, Do they speak French or English? Do they have a community from their home country in England? Do they have family or friends in England? Do they believe they have a better chance of getting a job in england?

Again I’m not against migrants but we are paying for illegal immigrants living in hotels and getting free meals/medical facilities etc….
Give it 2-3 years and this country will be full of illegals. Ireland is at a point where there will be bother now.

I thought you were at the wind up at first. Interesting how much influence the mainstream media still have, to divert attention to those nasty foreigners.

There`s a clear issue with illegal immigration in the UK. There`s no simple solution but one that is already being implemented unintentionally is to make the UK undesirable as a place to live.

There is an issue local to my place over here with men if a certain geographical demographic filming school children on their phones, blatantly, in front of parents, so let`s not pretend immigration is a happy friend time.

I don`t wanna go down like disco.

Really? What geographical demographic? Where is this happening about, and what`s getting done about it? I guess it`s a matter of time before the grooming gangs start on the kids up here too

Grooming gangs as in Asian pedo rings have been going on for the past 15 years down in the Birmingham area and spread throughout middle England.
It’s rife and disgusting what these girls go through as they don’t have anybody to look after them until a certain religion comes along and pretends to help them…

Just look at the backward Asians who follow the Quran bible and find it ok to marry and have sex with a girl who reaches puberty…that’s disgusting and not wanted in this country.

This is happening in the Bathgate area near a hotel that has been set aside for immigrants, older folk are feeling it too as the guys often walk about in big groups.
It`s all men.
What`s being done about it?
Well so far not much at all.

I don`t wanna go down like disco.

I didn`t realise Stephen Yaxley-lennon posted on here.

So immigrants in Bathgate caused bother by *checks notes* "walking around in groups"? Honestly...

If the allegations of grooming and hanging around playparks are true then I`m surprised none of the vigilante groups who hunt paedophiles have caught them. They seem to catch white men incredibly easily (as do the police based on the Press reports). Is this an example of two tier paedophile hunting?
