Topic: Oakley Boothe, McCann & Cooper - Lennon Interview

If McCann moves on, I wish him well — but I can’t say I’ll be sad about it. More than anything, it’s just disappointing how things turned out. He was another one who showed real promise when he first broke through but never quite delivered.

If a fresh start helps him kick on, then fair play to him — good luck to the guy.

Rumour i`ve heard is lewis mcann has rejected a new contract regardless of the use of facilities

You`ve said that you`ve heard a rumour, Shelly, but several posters below you have interpreted it as fact. How does that work?

Maybe an illustration of why we shouldn`t repeat rumours on here. 🙄

Tbh mate dont think its a rumour, unless the wee toad is lying, it is a fact as far as i am concerned, i mean his family member should know as hes printing the names on the kits 😉

I had hoped he would push on last season and get a few goals, but it has to be viewed in terms of poor overall team performances. We certainly lacked creativity in the final third, but with Kane in and out of the team and rotation with other non proven forwards with no goal scoring ability, we certainly need change.

A change of club may be good for him. Maybe Livingston have approached him if Martindale rates him.

I’d be absolutely shocked if McCann got a move to a premiership club

I wouldn`t. Plenty players here have been deemed `not good enough` for us, then gone on to play at a higher level than the Pars for the majority of their careers.

Shaun Byrne
Ross Millen
Robbie Muirhead
Colin Nish
Miles Hippolyte
Ross Graham

I wouldn`t be surprised at all to see McCann go (and be successful) at a Prem club.

McCann maybe a bit scunnered with all the unwarranted abuse he got?
The last couple of seasons have been awful, all round, this is bound to have an impact on form etc, I kinda feel players get singled out when collectively the club has teetered on the brink of disaster.
I would have liked to see another year with Lennon coaching him, the general positivity around the club and hopefully an improved trajectory.

I`m not convinced he got a lot of `abuse`. Many people, myself included, pointed out his lack of goals for a striker (fact) and questioned his decision making at times, but I don`t recall much abuse.

`Good riddance` is quite abusive in my book but for some reason the norms of civility that would be accorded to most folk can be ignored when footballers are involved.

Maybe McCann was played as an out and out striker for too long when he simply isn’t one.

He always seemed much more effective as a foil for the real out and out striker. Chris Kane.

People saying things like `good riddance` are very much in the minority as far as i can see.

The guy could`ve had 100 assists.....it still wouldn`t have been good enough for some on here. They get an idea in their heads and that`s it.

If he does move on, he goes with my best wishes. I honestly hope he comes back, scores against us and reveals a t-shirt saying "Football isn`t just about scoring goals....."

There’s every chance that he might end up at Livingston. If he does move on, I’d like to wish him all the best and I hope he goes on to have a good career.

Surely the point is though that he didn’t get 100 assists and got nowhere near enough goals so the question is fairly asked what exactly was he bringing to the team? He would be revealing a blank t shirt.

The irony of da no 1 saying even if he got 100 assists folk would say it wouldn’t have been good enough.

He has watched him play this last 2 season and is still convinced he’ll make it.

Only one side of this arguement has the facts and the evidence the other has blind faith.

Remember Lennon, as a neutral at the time, doing the Aberdeen cup game commentary and he mentioned a couple of times that he got into good positions but decision making let him down.

Wish him well if he moves on. He`ll get a decent league two team (at least) down south no bother with his physical atrributes & style of of play and hopefully gets himself a good few quid to go with it.

Would be very surprised based on what`s happened so far.

Really hope he has a good move somewhere, can see him at maybe Ayr or Partick

Ah, OK. Wee toads never lie so we can assume he`s got a better offer elsewhere. Probably a good thing for all concerned. He could well kick-start a career that has stalled at EEP. I wish him all the best.
