101. Author: wee eck Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 11:50 NL`s also quoted today saying he`s not a big fan of the loan market- “I’m not really massively into loans. I want to sign players, I want them here. I don’t want them thinking about other things, I want them focused on being here. I think that’s the only way you can really be successful. Maybe there might be a couple of loans that come up that you go, yeah, he could make us better but in an ideal world, I wouldn’t go massive on the loan side of things.” Post Edited (Thu 05 Jun 11:51) Reply |
102. Author: Berkey Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 12:14 Cooper not the worst signing and guessing he’s not costing a shed load in wages and can be good off the bench, but needs to bulk up a bit this summer. Worry is at the moment it feels very much like last seasons squad and we’re hoping Lennon can squeeze some more out of them to get these guys going with a few experienced players to add quality. It’s risky unless your aim is mid table. Lennon hardly got them playing better football and scoring goals last season Loyalty to existing players who had struggled at this level is ultimately what did for mcpake. Just hope Lennon doesn’t make the same mistakes. The post below replying to me is by one of .nets finest champions of mediocrity! Reply |

105. Author: NMCmassive Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 14:59 Berkey, Thu 5 Jun 12:14 I don’t think he is going to make the same mistake. He’s obviously signed off on Charlie Gilmour and I’m hoping these rumours of more to come in shortly are going to be true. Hopefully between having NL as manager and owners that are willing to spend a competitive wage at this level, we should be able to put together a decent squad. I always thought the last squad had the basics of a successful team but we never added to it for 2 summers and by the winter transfer window just gone we had an over worked, tired and under confident squad that was missing quality in midfield and up front. McPake certainly isn’t blameless but the previous board have a lot to answer for. Different manager, different board - I’m sure we’ll see different results COYP Reply |
106. Author: Berkey Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 15:11 Hopefully NMC, we now have Hamilton Todd Boothe (if he accepts) Otoo Gilmour Hamilton Cooper Gilmour aside none of them had a good season in the middle of the park last year so assuming he brings in more quality for the spine of the team most of these guys will be on the bench or not even in the squad. Also still hearing wanyama mentioned. At the moment it’s still very much quantity over quality in there so hopefully the quality is en route. If booth stays I can’t see us brining in 8 additional outfield players unless a couple of under contract players go out the way. 107. Author: desparado Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 15:34 Todd can play RW back, competing with Bray. Otto can play LW back, competing with Ngwenya. As for signing more midfielders we still need a 10 and a left sided/winger.. What an opportunity we missed in 2014. Reply |
108. Author: NMCmassive Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 15:34 Berkey, Thu 5 Jun 15:11 Don’t know what to think of the Wanyama stuff. Is there a player of real quality there? Yes but can you get a multi millionaire motivated enough to be fit enough to scrap it out in the Scottish championship? I don’t think so 🤷🏻♂️ The other thing to consider is we don’t know really know how NL will want to set his team up. He set them up the only way he could to scrape results last season, hopefully we’ll be in a position to play the way we want this season COYP Reply |
109. Author: kozmasrightfoot Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 15:59 According to The Courier, NL hasn`t ruled out a contract for Wanyama. Pars fan. Magpies fan. Mens tennis fan. Alternative rock fan. Not a fan of much else. Reply |
110. Author: Kozmano1 Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 16:46 I bumped into Yogi Hughes earlier on Leith walk. Spoke to him about the pars and mentioned the McCann contract situation. He seems to think that he hasn’t been offered a contract and he’s just there doing rehab! Reply |
111. Author: onandupthepars Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 17:00 I`m thinking neither NL nor Wanyama need the readies, and I`m thinking NL has spoken of feeling exceedingly well received at the club, and he seems to be in it as a project in which he could get us to top six in the Premier, become a legend, be loved - I`m thinking that`s what matters to him - it`s the buzz, the adulation, if he`s successful, and he thinks he`s got a good shot at it. So I`m imagining Wanyama`s not fussed about the dough, and NL asks him - d`you fancy trying to become heros for this club - and getting that feelgood factor again that we`ve had from this beautiful game? 115. Author: cammypar 1995 Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 18:43 PARrot, Thu 5 Jun 17:32 Squad player’ usually gets thrown around for lads who aren’t nailed-on starters, think Cooper last season. Solid, but more rotation than first name on the team sheet. JCM, on the other hand, was a proper first-teamer while he was here and started the majority of games and was clearly central to the setup. Although I think some on here need to temper their expectations regarding who the club will sign. c'mon the pars Reply |
116. Author: wee eck Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 18:56 It`s not uncommon now for only 5 outfield players to play the full 90 minutes with most of them likely to be defenders as the players in midfield and up front are more likely to be considered potential `game-changers`. The overall composition of the squad should probably reflect that and that`s what we`re lacking at the moment. Reply |

119. Author: Buster_Brown Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 20:51 wee eck, Thu 5 Jun 18:09 Anyone else find NL’s comment a bit odd? “He’s come from part-time football. His first season was difficult making the adjustment, but he’s got talent. He needs to have a good pre-season.” The last bit sounds to me like he’s been set a bit of a challenge — almost as if his place in the squad isn’t guaranteed unless he really steps up. Or am I reading too much into it? Reply |
120. Author: neils Date: Thu 5th Jun 2025. 20:57 Well I think that`s the truth. I`m glad he`s re signed , would be a missed opportunity to let him go, but all the players have to prove it- if they don`t grab the chance, they will get replaced. It`s 2nd tier Scotland, they won`t get too long, and they don`t need too long. Reply |
