You could say that about most players in the Championship. What about that old adage - `the table doesn`t lie`?

There are some interesting stats about Pars` players last season in a feature on COWS - `That was the season that was`.

To be fair his crossing was very unpredictable......

Surely you don’t want predictable crossing? Defenders having a field day?

Past the first min more often than not would have been useful.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Ok - I just don’t want to be be pissed off when we sign some third rate 32 year old journeyman to replace him that has no connection and no interest in putting a shift in for DAFC like Toddy did in the second half of the season. (But if Lennon happened to find another Bobby Smith……)

In fairness that`s not the model the new owners seem to be following

All the best Matty and thanks for the memories. Here are just three ... that audacious goal you scored from inside your own half against Clyde at Hamilton in October 2022. your seamless swivel and shot to fire home (in your comeback?) at Firhill in March 2024. and, of course, your unforgettable opener against Aberdeen this season. Hope to see you back here one day.

The sooner the WC starts the better - then attention will veer away from this sterile ongoing focus on Todd.

Matty Todd was offered a great deal by the Pars HE chose not to sign it , and has moved on, yes he was loved by most of the support especially the younger ones , but he has chosen to play for St Johnstone

I`m intrigued by your inside knowledge, Salton. How do you know he was offered a "great deal?" And do you think it was a better (and longer) contract than that offered by Saints?

What`s your point? He`s a footballer maximising his career at a higher level. Fair play to him.

MT was offered a deal that would of made him one of the highest players at the club, with the likes of Fraser being on £200kish a year its not difficult to see that the offer would of been great.

Irrespective Matty Todd has to do what`s best for him, his family and his bank account. There is no sentiment in business as too loyalties. He was surplus to requirements 6 months ago and told to find a new club but turned is fortunes around and hit the level we all know he was capable of and is now reaping the rewards for his efforts.

Well done to him! A great servant and top player who will flourish with better players around him.

Matty Todd has rejected a new contract offer from Dunfermline Athletic and is set to depart the club. He knocked back a substantial deal that would have made him one of the Pars` top earners, opting instead to seek a fresh challenge and step up to the Premiership. From the Courier

My point is Matty Todd chose to leave the Pars, we made him a vey attractive offer , yet still chose to leave , we wish him well, but it was purely his decision to leave .

I`m still not sure what you`re getting at. The club made it quite clear he turned down a good deal. It was always going to be his decision as he was out of contract, which we all knew.

Right, so we don`t know the exact details, only that he was offered a deal that would have made him one of the highest earners at the club, so not to be sniffed at.

I`m going to suggest that Saints made him a better offer, perhaps a bigger basic wage, a longer contract and maybe even a decent signing on fee. The Pars probably decided, quite rightly, that they didn`t want to get into an auction, so he`s away.

I don`t blame either Matty or the club. He has to maximise his earnings in a short career and the Pars need to work within a specific budget.

The 2 offers were pretty similar but as I said on an earlier post

"There was a big clash at the start of season which both parties eventually ironed out to benefit each other

A good offer was made but the issues that were there at the start of the season were still simmering underneath and the decision had already been made up in his head
He was always going to try his best till he left because of his love for the club, but he knew he was going to leave"

Wait Fraser is on almost 4K per week? That can’t be right?

There’s surely no way we’ve offered matty Todd a contract at 3-4K a week.
