Rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. And as for the Middle East, God help us! My 80yr old Auntie (born and raised in Scotland) now living in Baltimore is a Trump fanatic, absolutely batsh*t for brains! Reply |
2. Author: wee eck Date: Wed 8th Jan 2025. 10:33 I don`t think foreign policy ranks very highly in the average American voter`s list of priorities. Their main concern is the size of their bank balance. Recent interventions by the likes of Musk and Zuckerberg don`t bode well for the next four years either. Reply |
3. Author: jake89 Date: Wed 8th Jan 2025. 10:34 I don`t wish this to sound disrespectful or as a joke, but he may have diminished mental capacity. What`s worrying is the policy teams around him aren`t intervening. The rhetoric from Trump isn`t much different to the crap we heard during brexit and we still hear from idiots like Farage. There`s a genuine debate to be had about asylum and immigration but all they want to do is drop little soundbites to excite the ignorant. They don`t have a plan to reduce asylum claims or to ensure high quality migrants. Reply |
4. Author: DBP Date: Wed 8th Jan 2025. 12:36 I think what’s more worrying is the power and influence we’ve all given people like musk… and his ability with very little effort to impact our democracy Edited to say that wee eck flagged social media owners above Post Edited (Wed 08 Jan 12:37) Reply |
5. Author: Tenruh Date: Wed 8th Jan 2025. 18:36 DBP, Wed 8 Jan 12:36 Where do you drew the line? Members of both the Scottish and Westminster parliaments went over campaigning for the Democrats , will that backfire on British politics with the money available to Musk . 6. Author: DBP Date: Wed 8th Jan 2025. 18:49 Eh? I’m talking about technocrats having way too much power to influence people and stir up / set the narrative of our parliament I couldn’t care less about trump Reply |

8. Author: Dave_1885 Date: Wed 8th Jan 2025. 19:03 Musk literally runs a website that is based on peddling lies and fake news to stir up hatred. This is why I feel he will not influence British Politics in the way he thinks he will - we arent all dumb f*cks like the Americans. His only way in to the UK political scene was via Reform, and that seems to have ended as quickly as it started. He wont win over a majority within this country as the majority aren’t racist, knuckle dragging morons. Reply |

12. Author: DBP Date: Thu 9th Jan 2025. 06:23 He’s already in our politics, he just needs to post a few things on his platform and it sets the agenda over here, eg what is everyone talking about (again) this last week? Reply |
13. Author: jake89 Date: Thu 9th Jan 2025. 08:04 DBP, Thu 9 Jan 06:23 It`s not just Musk though. I recently ended up with TikTok on my phone ("thanks" Samsung). I don`t have an account but I went in and scrolled through my "For you" videos. Not going to lie that almost every video was propaganda against asylum seekers and Muslims. Not signed up, freshly opened. All they presumably know is my location and device. Reply |
14. Author: The One Who Knocks Date: Thu 9th Jan 2025. 13:07 That`s because TikTok knows the real , racist, bigoted, far right Jake89 that you do so well to conceal most of the time. And although my eyes were open They just might as well be closed Reply |

17. Author: wee eck Date: Thu 9th Jan 2025. 15:27 It`s hard to know what exactly Musk`s motive is and the FT have been investigating. `According to the Financial Times, he’s serious. Anna Gross and Joe Miller report that Musk has “privately discussed with allies how Sir Keir Starmer could be removed as UK prime minister before the next general election, according to people briefed on the matter”. In their story, Gross and Miller say: Musk, the world’s richest man and key confidant of US president-elect Donald Trump, is probing how he and his rightwing allies can destabilise the UK Labour government beyond the aggressive posts he has issued on his social media platform X, the people said. “His view is that western civilisation itself is threatened,” one of the people added. Musk has sought information about whether it might be possible to build support for alternative British political movements — notably the rightwing populist Reform UK party — to force a change of prime minister before the next election, according to associates.` Reply |

Author: parsfan Date: Thu 9th Jan 2025. 15:40 wee eck, Thu 9 Jan 15:27 The Online Safety Act, coming in in a couple of months, and the threat of being fined 10% of global turnover might have something to do with it. I think there be something similar in the EU on the horizon as well but with bigger fines. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The universe is ruled by chance and indifference Post Edited (Thu 09 Jan 15:42) Reply |
19. Author: Bletchley_Par Date: Thu 9th Jan 2025. 17:34 Carter should have never given up joint control of the Panama canal. The US has bases on Greenland and control the defense of it`s entire North coast. I think the 55k of people who inhabit will vote for independence from Denmark and the US will make the people an offer they can`t, and don`t want to refuse. Reply |
