Author: McCaig`s Tower Date: Thu 9th Jan 2025. 21:44 After decades of seemingly constant improvements in living standards and lifestyles I wonder what effect the global financial crisis and the CoVid pandemic have had on people’s mindsets. I suspect that there are many people who are not enjoying the wealth or health they had expected and are looking for someone to blame, making them prey to Nationalist and Populist agendas. Throw in a deal of ignorance, and the rise of social media where algorithms will feed you a constant stream of bite-size chunks of prejudice reaffirming falsehoods and this is where you can end up. One of the many disappointing things about Trump’s ascent is it appears to be the antithesis pf the American dream where hard work and talent can bring success. In his case, he seems to have succeeded despite having a very narrow education and an absence of moral rectitude, due to a combination of inherited wealth and abuse of power, helped no doubt by acolytes who would seemingly sell their souls to do his bidding. Another frustration is the way the commentariat has been so wrong about him so often – he wasn’t going to run for president, he wasn’t going to win the nomination, he didn’t really want to be president anyway, he couldn’t win, he wouldn’t run again, America wouldn’t elect a felon, the polls were wrong, he would lose the swing states and so on. Not sure what Musk`s doing though. They can`t both be King. Reply |

He’s already been on Truth Social whining to his supporters that it was all a witch hunt. ”Buffy’s Buns are the finest in Fife”, J. Spence 2019” Reply |

30. Author: PARrot Date: Tue 21st Jan 2025. 23:47 Musk says in his speech, "We are going to have sensible spending." Then, in the next sentence, he says, "And we are going to Mars. Sensible spending to American "Christians" means cutting Medicare and social assistance to enable Musk to go to Mars. Well. I would love to be a fly on the wall on judgement day. Reply |

33. Author: wee eck Date: Thu 30th Jan 2025. 19:33 Trump has declared the cause of the air crash over the Potomac River was the result of the Democrats applying diversity rules in recruiting people for Air Traffic Control, some of whom were not qualified for their jobs. Needless to say there is no evidence to support this. The guy has absolutely no class at all. Reply |

35. Author: buffy Date: Fri 31st Jan 2025. 01:08 Yet there were no crashes under Biden’s tenure but one under his. He is a disgrace of a man. He should be leading, not lying, to the American people, and he should have been showing sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives. ”Buffy’s Buns are the finest in Fife”, J. The guy is an absolute Buffoon it’s almost as if we have somehow gone back in time and landed in the 60s again I read the other day that he’s also set to scrap diversity rules in the military as well Post Edited (Fri 31 Jan 06:02) Reply |
