American beef producers are somewhat distressed that China has decided to cancel importing beef products from the US and shift this US$1.6bn business to Australia.

Thanks, mate!

:)

What`s stopping the Chinese from producing their own beef Oz?

Cows/beef production requires much more space than a similar amount of pork or chicken production.

That sums things up pretty well, Jake.

Trump now hinting the state visit will likely take place in September.

I suspect the streets will jam-packed with protestors he will need to travel to Buckingham Palace by helicopter again 🚁

Interesting viewpoint.

Trump now appears to be desperate for a deal with the Chinese. While they appear to be ignoring him

Open hostilities now between the worlds most powerful and the worlds richest man. Trump threatening to cancel Musks government contracts and Musk going on twitter to make an incredible allegation against Trump.

And although my eyes were open

It does make me wonder if they short everything. Have a massive fake falling out, make a fortune, reverse the short and then fall back in together.

This just seems a bit too convenient and a very profitable soap opera for some.

Brilliant viewing. Best bit is that Americans thought this pair were going to sort out their country 😂

The egos have landed. It looks like something similar is happening with Reform UK.

Interesting that this has stemmed from a discussion around wearing of a Burka. Personally, I don`t think the Burka should be banned, but it should be permissable to request it is removed in certain situations IMO and it should only be worn if the woman chooses to rather than be enforced. Those claiming it`s a requirement of the Islamic faith are talking out their bottoms.

Woman : "I`m happy to take it off. It`s not going to cause any problems later if I do."

I can see that happening.....

So you then move into a position where folk ask for it to be removed, and that doesn`t happen. That`ll cause frustration and upset too.

Unfortunately, this feels like the male/female discussion in that we`re expecting every problem to have a binary answer.

At least one party is always going to have a problem with the outcome.

Therein lies the issue. People can wear what they want but it depends if they have chosen or if they have been coerced or threatened. The Burka as far as I`m aware is not technically mentioned in any religious scripture. It`s a more modern invention.

I guess what`s the difference between wearing a burka in a bank or a balaclava. They do the same job but I`d imagine the balaclava would be seen with a little more suspicion

Why a bank? What was called for is a ban on the burka in public places. In France you can be fined something like a 100 euros if you wear a burka in a public space. What has it go to do with the government what clothes you wear?
I get that some people might think that women who wear the burka are being forced to do so but this seems to then force these women to not cover themselves up. It removes the agency from women to wear what they want. We wouldn`t put up with it if the government wanted to ban women from wearing skirts shorter than knee length or if they wanted to ban women from wearing a swimsuit/bikini while at the beach.

The concern with any face covering is someone is attempting to conceal their identity. However, as you point out a bigger concern is clothing choices being forced on women. As far as I understand, there are lines in scriptures relating to covering yourself but they don`t mandate wearing of a Burka. This is a more modern invention, one you could argue is about controlling women rather than related to faith. It suggests women are inferior but also that men are savages who have no control over their actions.

I imagne that Trump is a lot more interested in the claims that Musk overstayed his visa and lied on his naturalisation papers now that deporting him would fit with Trump`s personal ambitions.

The El Savadorian that was wrongly deported has been returned to the US - but has been charged with 2 counts of “alien” smuggling. Whats worse about this is the fact the Attorney General stood at the podium openly using the term “alien smuggling” 😂 and the BBC have gone along with it!

So dim witted its unreal 🤦🏻‍♂️
